Mr. Miswari in her sermons in Aceh often discusses comparisons between the past and present, both in the aspects of social, religious and cultural life. According to him, the past had advantages in terms of simplicity, togetherness, and stronger religious values, while the present era is more influenced by technological advances and globalization which can have both positive and negative impacts.
In ancient times, people lived in a simple and natural environment. They live in close togetherness and work together in dealing with various problems. Community life prioritizes religious and moral values, such as mutual respect, honesty and responsibility. In contrast, nowadays, people live more in a modern and complex environment. Despite significant technological advances, social life is more individualistic and tends to emphasize less religious and moral values.
Mr. Miswari also highlighted the differences in religious practices between the past and present. In ancient times, Muslims were thicker in carrying out Islamic teachings, such as prayer, fasting and zakat. They also value religious knowledge more and always try to learn and practice it in everyday life. Meanwhile, nowadays, religiosity tends to be influenced by popular culture and lacks depth in studying Islamic teachings correctly.
Although there are differences between the past and present, Mr. Miswari emphasized that it is important for Muslims to continue to promote good religious and moral values, as well as strengthen faith and faith in carrying out Islamic teachings. He also invited Muslims to take advantage of technological advances and globalization wisely, so as not to eliminate the religious and moral values that are needed in social and individual life.
