So in this vlog I cover my job in the cemetery. Hopefully I was able to squeeze in the more interesting things into this vlog. If not, I can always do another one.
While working in the cemetery a lot of interesting things happened. A lot of sad things too. When I started of just weed whacking I never expected to be promoted to driving the truck and setting up for the funerals. Which was a tough job, emotionally and mentally and physically. When we had no services we did landscaping. Which as hot as it got in the summer was hard work. I remember being so dehydrated and one point my body started tingling so I sat under a faucet to try to regain my composure.
So yeah, started of weed whacking, moved up to the truck and they obviously had to show me how to set up for funerals. And I got to the point where I could do it on my own. But shortly there after is when I made the mistake of trying to use the wooden planks underneath the astro turf to list myself out of the grave (I hopped down in there to straighten out the greens) so I pushed up off those planks, they slid out from underneath me and I feel back 6ft into the concrete vault. Which was something I'll never forget. Having view of being in a grave was kinda surreal.
That and, I explain this is the vlog. There was a guy who worked with us and we were waiting for a service to finish. At the same time the old man Art had the crematory going and that one guy said, "That smell of BBQ is killing me." When it was clearly not BBQ he was smelling.
There was some stuff that was very difficult to see. One being I had to help carry a casket, the thing was was I was dressed in work clothes while everyone else had suits on, but the needed my help to move the casket. I felt bad about it because that's something that is obviously formal and I wasn't dressed for the occasion. But, in my defense, I didn't know I was going to have to do that that day.
Anyhow, that's the jist of my job at the cemetery. I apologize for it being a longer video than usual, there was just a lot to say, and I am remembering more even as I type this, which if I have enough info, I guess you could say, I will cover this topic more.
One more tidbit I forgot to add (which I'm sure there is others but this one for now) I actually dug some graves, for urns. Which, again was tough.
In closing, I hope you all enjoyed! I will be doing more vlogs about past jobs in the future!
