vayden1991 I get your point. But art does not have black and white. Art is about the individual perceiving the piece. Let's take this song... even though it was giving a mean as to what Ben meant it to be. That is just what the song means to him. People will feel it different and understand it differently as it will speak to something relatable to them in their lives. a sculpture is a sculpture of a woman right?? Well some will see the sculpture of the woman notice her expression and maybe the sadness on her face will make the entire piece mean something else to that person. Well that's just how I see it. I don't like others telling me hey this is what it is... you must also see it that way. Bullshit!! But that's just my opinion. Let's not overthink this😁

In all honesty breaking Benjamin has Christian roots. However their lyrics did not always reflect as such. The pastor makes good points. It does take discipline to still the mind. This is the first step. It is difficult to stop the mind from randomly thinking but slowly, over time, anyone can accomplish this. This was mentioned with "Be still and know that I am God". When you try this stilling of the mind, don't be discouraged if you can't still the mind for 3 minutes without thinking of something. The ego will convince you that you cannot accomplish this task and most likely many will convince themselves that it cannot be accomplished by their own deception. Only the individual knows if they are truthful to themselves when they attempt this stilling of the mind. Just remember, with God, everything is possible. And you can pray to him to help you overcome the distractions of random thoughts to get to the point of hearing the small still voice who speaks to you from within. After all, he is a God who hideth himself until he knows we are earnestly seeking him. Peace be with you.

When I was doing pre-reqs to get into BYU, I asked my advisor, "Why do we center our education around religion? I can't think of a time I've ever felt God's presence. I believe and have faith, but I find it hard to understand why such a pivotal part of my life is centered around religion. So why?" My advisor told me that I've felt God's presence, his influence, but I just haven't realized/recognized it. He then challenged me to write an essay about "My faith". For the essay, he said to choose an aspect of my life that impacted me through out my life, and to recall specific instances where that aspect had a changing impact in my life. He then said that after writing about those instances, to tie it together under the theme of "My faith in God"... that after doing so, I would see the answer to my question. I accepted his challenge, and did just that. I wrote about music - most of which, funny enough, was music by Breaking Benjamin. Through writing the essay, I realized that everytime I went through hardship and loss, I'd turn to music and things eventually got better - I realized God was giving me guidance through the music I would turn to. Thanks to my advisor and that essay, I realized that while it's not always clear, God will find a way to communicate his love and guidance to us all.

In my opinion, when someone says that they've prayed but nothing happened, or they say that they hear God or feel him, the answers are very simple. Ya didn't hear him, because you've not been willing to listen to him with your whole heart. You don't feel him because you haven't been willing to embrace him with your whole heart. But I wanted to quickly mention something to you about your earlier comments on another song about darkness. God can be found in the darkness, because He is after all omipresent, He is everywhere, He is even in Hell, After all King David said that God would find David there if need be. God once told me that he is the hell fire of hell. Because He is an all consuming fire, and to be in his presence without the cover of Jesus's blood, you are in that fire. Darkness is being in the presence of God with out His manifesting light, He is after all capable of anything.

See, i saw this more through the lens of losing people who were religious while i'm not. I'm more of an agnostic intellectually and at heart, i'm open to strong enough evidence, but i'm a practical atheist and require evidence to believe even though i'm relatively well versed in mythology and theology and religion for a young guy (pastor's grandson). But, since i have moments like this, i always saw it more as for a moment i'm hoping it's there and it's real, heaven and god and angels and all that or hell and all that, so that i can take solace in knowing i'll see them again wherever i would end up. It feels strange, because it's almost like for a moment i believe it to be true, for a moment i have Pastor Andy's faith. Learning the deeper teachings of Messiah through Moses...lear ing Hebrew and Hebraic thinking principles etc. Then the music made a lot of sense and its humbling how The Lord was with us the whole time. We were a message band but didn't quite get the emssage at the time..... Now it makes more sense ...... Which makes me want to jam again but those times are gone.

I talked to Benjamin Burnley for about 10 minutes after a show right after this album came out and I asked him directly why he was so blatantly religious on this song and I swear on everything that he almost got offended..... This song is NOT about him finding God, it is about his illness & going to see over 300 doctors and nobody being able to tell him what's wrong. These are his EXACT WORDS.... He prayed and called out to "God" and received no help so this song is the opposite of what some of you religious people are trying to make it out to be. He told me that he is essentially an atheist now so everyone trying to lie and pretend they know what's in his head, please stop because I heard the man himself tell me that he doesn't believe in God anymore. They just use religious undertones in their lyrics to make people think. You all can believe me or not, I don't care but Ben Burnley is NOT religious and this song is NOT about him finding God or searching for God... It's completely the opposite

This song is about A Soul Mate and living Another life, if you Watch Breaking benjamin's orignal Video of Ashes of Eden, he is in a future like place than the female and male have space suits on and are going in to Earth (HOLDING) each other, Going to live a life on earth to find each other and he does not want her to let him Go. Ben Believes in God in real life this is about an experience he had but the person had lost their faith in life where HE held on to it For Her.. and he is showing his faith in God. and how Faith is real and how real faith is.. When ashes of Eden falls he is saying until God blows up the earth until the end of Earth to relive where there is no serpent... ( understand) He wants who ever he is singing about to open up again and not shut out the word especially him

Life was never meant to be easy, it's going to be full of heartache and pain, we are blessed with the good times. We have to endure the hard times to get to paradise at the end of this life.

Ben's singing voice is very soothing. I pray he repents of his sins and turns to Jesus Christ. Cuz we need his redeemed musical talent in the Christian Church!

You guys should check out "The Great Divide" by Breaking Benjamin as well. That song is from the same album as "Ashes of Eden" and also has a lot of religious tones to it.

My dad always told me that the true word of God is life itself. The conversation begins the day you're born and becomes a lot more interesting the day you die. I plan on telling my own son the same thing. As for the perceived silence of God, well...I have my own theory about that. I believe God's omniscience stems from the human soul, the divine spark, which I believe is a tiny piece of God Himself. That's why He knows all that we think, feel, and do and understands us better than we understand ourselves. But He doesn't speak to us the same way we speak to each other for a very simple reason: something given has no value compared to something earned. Without suffering bliss is meaningless. Without our doubts we would take faith for granted. Without strife we wouldn't understand the value of peace. If God simply gave us Heaven on earth and shielded our lives from all consequences and pain what would we become? Some variation of a brain-dead utopia where we merely exist instead of ever truly living? That's what I believe, and it makes a lot more sense to me than believing God does not exist because everything comes from somewhere and if you wind back the clock far enough, to the Big Bang or the endless eons preceding it, you'll be able to explain away the origins of the universe from dark matter to carbon - but when you ask where the building blocks came from, or the laws of physics that set them in motion, all you'll find is a giant question mark.

This should be interesting. I always thought many of their songs had a Christian type lean to them, this one especially.

Blessed are the eyes that see what you see, for I tell you, many kings and prophets have desired to see what you see and have not seen it, to hear what you hear and have not heard it. I thank you, Father, for hiding these things from the learned and the wise and revealing them to the innocent and the simple.

I’m a catholic and i know that faith gets alot of bad publicity but everyone i know that is cathyis a very good person and is willing to help anyone out. This song to me is very much how i feel though, im torn and i hope I’m a good person but im not sure. I sing this song at the top of my lungs driving around because i feel like it’s inclusive to everyone that believes and loves god. Breaking Benjamin is an unbelievably great band
