This kid seems completely naive to just how much damage he is doing to not only his fellow 10p grapplers but also to his own reputation in that I'm sure he now has a target on his back. When he faces tougher competition e.g. ADCC, someone is bound to do to him what he is doing to everyone, and he will learn the hard way what it's like to be on a 9-12 month daily rehab program as a result of torn knee ligaments and a costly reconstructive surgery.

Incorrect popular opinion. Did he actually break their legs? Did you know that a submission should actually be locked in to where you could break the ligament if you wanted? You do not half-arse a submission and hope that they tap. Training for real fighting situations, you cannot hope your opponent will tap to end the fight. You might need to break his arm or leg.

@@MMALineMover A big point of grappling / BJJ is that you can train without too much fear of injury / brain damage. If you spend your days ripping heel hooks as hard as possible, or punching your training partners in the face, it kind of negates that.

Are there any successful 10p guys outside EBI? I know they don’t compete in a lot of ibjjf events but have any won adcc or no gi worlds or anything? Just seems to me that they focus on leg locking each other and it does great intergym but doesn’t translate outside the heel hook echo chamber. Pat is not terrible but is he doing this to haisam rida or to any other top jiu jitsu guys that push the pace

Damn, if you can't trust your partner/opponent to use appropriate amount of force to submit you, then it is just a street fight. I doubt anyone in that room came prepared to defend their leg from getting shredded, which put them at a disadvantage - all because they were exercising good sportsmanship. This is really bad for jiujitsu and even worse if younger grapplers that are looking up to this kid for inspiration because then it could become a trend. Imagine if no one wanted to compete any more for fear of being maimed unnecessarily.

I understand the prize money at stake that being said such a gym culture can only have negative consequences in the long run. Any athlete can have a bad day and get tapped by heel hook but to get purposely incapacitated by a team member isn’t right. If I had my knee ripped to shreds in an in house tournament, I would be pissed! That being said, props to this young man for winning. I learned a long time ago, don't underestimate the heavy set kid.

Who is his coach? Which gym is he training at? There is no guidance at all. Martial arts are about respect and compassion. There is not any instilled to this kid. I saw another video that he ruined somebody’s kneecap and the video of doctor explaining that this is a life altering injury. The injured opponent will probably have injuries that will follow him for the rest of his life . breaks my heart watching this.

this why i dont like singular discipline competition, epically BJJ its way too limited in terms of finishing your opponent. but when you try this shit in MMA and fail to get the sub your getting your face smashed in.
