He was one of the persons who have proven that styles doesn't matter, rather the individuals training and technique attitude that matters. Besides, he accepted different challenges like Sabaki, K-1, and UFC to prove his fighting spirit. He had no formal Kyokushin-based martial arts training, rather, he used some martial arts known to USA, such as boxing, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Hapkido, and Tang Soo Do as his martial arts choice

I met Patrick around 1994 . One day out of nowhere , In Southern CA , A large man gets off a Harley Davidson and comes to my front door , I immediately recognized him from the second UFC . He asked to use my telephone and afterward told me that his dad lived just a few properties down the road . I ran into him a few more times and he was always very friendly and pleasant . RIP Brother

@theslimeacornyt5172.....agree 💯💯💯 In the early days of the UFC, the guy who blew my mind with his savage-beast intensity and badass attitude - 'PAT SMITH'. UFC 2.....destroyed 'Scott Morris' with sledge-hammer hitting elbows. UFC 6.....rock'd Rudyard Moncayo's world with a devastating high-straight kick to the chest. Royce, Shamrock, Kimo, Tank Abbott, Tito, Iceman, Rampage Jackson, Jon Jones, GSP, Conor McGregor are all awesome, but Pat Smith is my 1# all-time fav. After the fights, camera's were rolling - microphone in his face.....the man was still a bad mofo. GOD BLESS 🙏 RIP 🧡💛💚💙💜 Love & Respect_________mykey from toronto

Do they still have the Sabaki? I know Kyokushinkai is still pretty popular (not so much in USA) and maybe the Sabaki could draw competitors from around the Globe? Make it and Ultimate Karate World Title and try and get some sponsors so guys (and gals) could win some money. They have Karate Combat so maybe Sabaki is a thing of the past.
