Maybe a keystone would be intresting. Something like, you can't use any totems/ballista but you get get increased other buffs

I don't think we really have the buffs to replace them at the moment unfortunately. Tornado is a good start but more are needed.

I like playing frost blades, but over time the issue of "if my totem is not up my damage feels like it's cut in half" has been getting more and more noticeable. I especially hate that while spellcaster builds can just link stuff on a triggerwand or arcanist brand, and their supports in general are less intrusive, while on melee you are forced to run totems... and only totems: There is no alternative outside of warcries for slams and maybe some funky stuff with hydrosphere still. And if totems are not up, you just attack so slower and do so much less damage, you basically don't feel like you are playing a melee build, you just feel as though you are playing a totem build that has a basic attack 6-linked for decorative pourposes. There were also plenty of times were i just didn't bother using my main attack skill to do damage do whatever single target monster i was having to deal with at the time, and i just popped my vaal ancestral warchief(usually on a 4 link) and let it do it's thing.(t's thing being killing the tanky mob on it's own pretty much) So yeah melee cool but melee bad because shit numbers and too reliant on totems to bandaid the holes that builds have in them, would much rather totems not be used anymore and have a different form of self buff that you have to recast often, one that at least doesn't have a health bar, but instead is just duration based.

I think having a health bar would be ok if it was durable enough that they rarely died and summoned quickly enough, however this is the problem. You can put your utility in a storm brand on a spellcaster, you can't trigger totems to just resummon them so you end up feeling like you're just spamming totems. Which is definitely a problem that you run into right now... So totem damage reduction + longer duration vs caster buffs would work, or greatly reducing the effect of totems on your damage would also bring it more in line with casters, because unfortunately caster buffs are often 20-30% of your damage vs totems being 40-80 :(

Hello, I saw your video very interesting. I'm curious about the conclusion of the single target of Scourge Arrow. Best thing to do is take a bunch of extra arrows and slow down the projectile?

you also forgot to mention the basically mandatory Panopticon which is the best damage anoint you can ever take as Melee due to said buffs

One way could be to have mastery wich makes totems temporary invunurable when placed or even keystone wich makes them immune to types of damage or damage totaly but makes them do way lower damage to fit those supportive roles however thats not gonna work for thiers support DPS/single target DPS very well ( thou there is a point to be made that if they dead they dont do any DPS)

Disagree - my protector and warchief make over half of my dmg on a melee build. I get that temp buffs would be ok but going down from 20m to 10m dps because of those totems is stupid af. I don't like it.

I agree 100%. I didn't play bow builds the last leagues because Balistas feel necessary and I don't like them. And Im sick from ancestral totem spam...

The time it takes to resummon them constantly also can leave you vulnerable to boss mechanics which is quite annoying.

How does returtning projectile works with Scourge Arrow (Vengeant cascade now that its getting "buffed" or simplified). Do the pod projectiles return?

That's a very good question. I haven't tested it with Nimis or Vengeant Cascade, but I would guess: Primary Projectile does not return, secondary (pod) projectiles do. But whether they return to you, or the enemies I have no idea.

How does attack speed with scourge arrow? Does it make the stages pass faster

The problem I run into with all totems is the time delay. Explosive arrow as an example, enemy contact, drop totem (time), target acquisition (time), get stacks (time) I’m already dead, the enemy has nanosecond response time, leaving my defense to be eaten while waiting for my offensive system to “come online “. It is what it is though.

My Siege ballista setup is not good its to squishy they take to much damage which make me wondering if they are usefull but i don't know what to use to replace them. They are Anomalous Siege ballista 20/20, Awakened Added Chaos Damage 5/20, Awakened Unbound Ailments 5/20, Awakened Deadly Ailments 5/20, Awakened Void Manipulation 5/20, Barrage 21/20.

Unfortunately, there isn't really a good replacement, that's what I've been using and they are definitely squishy vs uber bosses. Multi-totem support helps with spamming them but they still just kinda die, and the only real answer is play something that isn't so reliant on totems.

@@Tenkiei yeah i try something else but didn't find it usefull, also i removed infused channelling and mirage archer for Aw void manipulation and Aw vicious projectile, that upgrade a lot the dps, loosing mirage archer is not a problem the clear with prolif is already very good. i also switch Scourge Arrow in the chest for the +2 projectile.

I think the most fun I had with this skill is using it with Fury Valve. Sending one big shot down and having it split to 7 enemies was fun.

Imo scourge arrow pathfinder is one of the most versatile builds too. Multiple different routes you can go to scale your defenses.

It offers a lot of versatility in defensive setups, though my favorite so far has been phys taken as + divine flesh + ele flasks.

While you can use CoC with it the proc rate would not be good especially in comparison to barrage or blast rain, and again you can use CWC but there's no specific reason to do so with this skill over something like cyclone.
