I wish I would have kept note of what I did at the end. But for sure Principal and the red guards were the first lights to shut off. didnt even have to think about it lol. This last part made me question so much and i went back and forth on a bunch of these choices. I liked how it kind of made you reflect on your own morals and what kinds of things can coexist in a new world. Also another random note. I thought it was interesting throughout the entire game you go through so many factions. One system falls, we build another, that one falls, we repeat the process. Each system tries to replace the old one but it feels like they all make similar mistakes. Or just mistakes in general. They have their own view of what the "perfect" world is but in every "perfect" world they create there's always a group/class of people that are stuck at the bottom and not treated as equals. Man I wish this was fresher in my head so I could explain more lol. But it was fun to revisit this last part. This was an epic way to close the game out.

I love that thought about systems that you have! I agree that there's this interesting ... fallacy? maybe? ... where each group thinks they can fix the mistakes of the past, but they bring with them a whole new set of problems. Maybe the world gets better in some ways, but it gets worse in others. Like, I think of how the sisters, under the rule of Principal, got to choose names and their own functions. It seemed like, in that small way, there was a little improvement -- but at an incredible cost where the Red Guard was implemented and personal freedoms more openly restricted in other ways. You now have me thinking about the different between remembering and carrying your history, and how (at least in this game) they are two different actions you can take to try and move forward. It's still a fresh thought, so now I've gotta sit with it ~ thank you for sharing!

Such an excellent discussion. So much that hit. This game was so dense. My decisions at the end were principles based. I got rid of Principal and the Reds. Knower, because the cost of survival at all costs rubbed me the wrong way even though it kept Watcher alive. Got rid of Mauve, because she seemed Jokerfied. The religion sect, because even though they said they just want to worship on their own, it made me think of the history of religious missionaries and all that. Kept the Jiaos, the parents, Watcher's sister's, Kris' shells, and I don't remember what else there was. I don't recall getting on a ship to the surface at all. Maybe I memory wiped, but that's interesting. Looking forward to the Citizen Sleeper playthrough! Some advice is feel free to go for as many endings as you want, because it reloads to before that ending. Also, dlc is well worth a playthrough

Okay, but your point about Mauve being Jokerfied puts into words exactly the vibe I got from her by the end! I love hearing all the ways folks have gotten to their first ending (I feel like the first is the most interesting cause after that it's kind of you playing the game versus that initial gut decision). I still haven't had the chance to finish the game again -- I'm on Chapter 8, though, so I'm gonna be trying to get the rest of the endings this weekend and see if I can hear that voice Joel was talking about. :D And thanks for the tips re: Citizen Sleeper! I think we just may have to do a bonus episode / week with the DLC with how good folks keep mentioning it is!
