This. I made money fine for the last ten years and had nothing to show for it literally up until this year. Now I have 10K in savings divided between a HYSA, the market, and some emergency cash. rent paid ahead of time for the next month every month. Literally the BIGGEST thing - was learning to grocery shop. Not just making myself GO to the grocery, bc then all you buy is chips and frozen meals and then you get tired of that and then you’re back to eating out. When I really took the time to learn the pastas, million different type sandwiches, and just a million other dishes I like, it literally saved me over 20K a year. 1800 a month decrease in expenses when I stopped going out to eat. Now going out to eat feels special, and fun, because it’s rare and I can fully afford whatever I want when I go. As opposed to it being a dull constant in life.

@@gregsimoes8645 i havent done the car thing so i can't compare. And I promise I'm not just arguing to argue. This feels like a conversation so far lol. But what I can tell ya from my experience, and even that is pretty specific cuz I happened to be in a house with eleven guys, two kitchens but one was for house staff... Which was just other residents that had been there longer and had a modicum of authority... But the group I was with had so many kitchen issues it was unreal. I personally have a super weird relationship with food even pre addiction or homelessness. So for me I would wish I could just have a car to live in when I was there. Given that was a halfway house or recovery home depending on who you ask I guess. So it wasn't just reg roommate situation it had all kinds of extra bells and whistles lol.

@@joeydurant6267 Sure, and that makes sense, altho issues aren't "kitchen issues" just because they happen to take place "in the kitchen". ;) LOL. High-functioning spectrum adults need someone to slap stuff out of their hands. He may be super-focused on engineering, but completely inept in every-day self management. One of my children is like this - very smart and great memory, but unable to balance a checkbook or make appointments for themselves. It's not intentional - it's simply the inability to prioritize common personal duties and the inability to recognize the importance of future personal planning ... it's not an immediate need/want, so we'll deal with it somehow when the time comes. Someone needs to tell him that no Chinese parents will let their daughter marry him if he can't at least put a DOWNPAYMENT on a home immediately. They'll think she has no future with him and she could do better with a local man. The only exception is if they're dirt poor and rural, but THEN he'll be expected to help the rest of the family out financially. He'll be sending a bunch of his income back to her family for the rest of his life. When her parents get elderly, she will bring them to live with in the US with them in the same house. That's the way it is. He needs to be realistic. He has to have something to offer or the parents will say no, and most Chinese girls won't disobey their parents. I'm not hating on Chinese people -- I've lived here for years and know what makes someone a viable partner the parents will accept. I also know what the cultural expectations are from a spouse. You need to know this stuff if you intend to make an intercultural marriage. Unless there's something we don't know yet (at 33 minutes in) that would make her totally unmarriageable otherwise, I'm 99% sure this marriage is not going to happen.

its a great way of showing how aware they are or arent of their situation. if they dont know what they make its easy to see them having no idea what theyre spending. so many dont understand their level of debt

Caleb was being overly dense. He even said himself "you get paid every two weeks like everybody else" then was acting like one deposit in his account was a monthly paycheck
@user-qt6cs6qi8b
Ай бұрын
@@drainel9707the guy was incapable of even being able to clarify that point tho - literally heard is bi-monthly direct deposit and couldn’t immediately recognize that’s what it was. No wonder Caleb was confused, that’s absurd
@benstanfill363

@@drainel9707no Caleb said all that came in that month was $2000 and the guy said that sounds right. Later dude said he gets paid every two weeks and Caleb said yes like everybody else. The assumption there would be he gets paid ~$1000 a paycheck since his monthly income was only $2000.

“Sharing a kitchen is a big problem for me.” Something tells me this dude never cooks at home anyway 😂

What he isn't saying is he's the problem. He makes a mess and doesn't clean it uo and his roommates go nuclear on him. That's my total assumption based off 43 mins of hearing him word vomit nonsense and herd the hamster back onto the wheel in his head.

@@MissMosierableBut his point is still valid. I myself is that guy who makes a mess and hates cleaning up and this is the reason I hate sharing anything with anyone.

Caleb yelling at the guy getting coffee and the movies once is ridiculous. This guys main problem is not having a room mate and getting scammed by women. He needs to grow a backbone or hell will always be poor. I feel bad for this dude. Its obvious that hes extremely lonely and women use that to milk him out of all hes worth.

It’s weird, doesn’t want to share a kitchen yet would have to share bathroom, kitchen etc with the public because he’s living out of his car.

Why is he ssoooooo okay living in his car when he has to give it back in like a month (two maybe if this was filmed ahead of time)? How is his stress not putting him in the ER? This is such a heart breaking scenario. Some people have to hit rock bottom to figure out how to take accountability but it doesn’t have to be that way.

My ac broke, weather outside was 105. I cant believe this comment was 5 days ago. I know what I need to do to get back on track but good lord. Emergency fund, pet insurance people.
