Great Video Dave! I have to say, it is great to see you doing videos again! I started watching you just before the journal's of the yurt. Now I have a grandson who will be 7 next week! I get to hang out with him tomorrow so his Dad (my son) can work O.T. That leaves my with teaching my grandson how to make biscuits in the bush, plus the Morels are biting hard right now so it may be golden morels in the biscuit instead of Brown Sugar Spread. Thanks for spreading the knowledge. My Grandson thinks I'm the coolest thing in the world, and I give all the credit to you Dave!

Great video! I like how compact everything is and yet still very functional, including using the pot as an oven. Quick Question: When you put the pots and pans directly into the flame like that, obviously they will get burn marks, etc. Is there any risk of the pots getting damaged beyond just a discoloration? I like the idea of using the pot as an oven for baking, but I don't want to eventually damage my equipment.

Looks delicious and I like the idea of a bushpot as a reflector oven, I always use mine with the lid when baking. As a Canadian I never got the whole biscuits thing despite lots of trips through the US but then again, bannock was what I grew up with so that's what I aim for and ain't a huge difference ultimately. One thing that stood out besides the food was how you treated the cat. I've seen a few people get frustrated with their animals when there's food out like that and the way you handled that critter was excellent.

Dave will you please do a series on dealing with bugs in the outdoors. Especially mosquitos, and other biting flies/fleas. I love the outdoors and I know how you dress in the outdoors matters and that OFF works. You might not always have OFF. What other things can a person do in the outdoors to help repel these bugs without covering yourself completely with mud to keep them from covering you from head to toe with bug bites. It's always convenient to "just go back inside" when you can, but what do you do when you cant.

Hey dave I never thought of brown sugar with lard. That looked really good. Im gonna try that. Maybe add a pinch of cinnamon. Gotta say, kitty was cool to..lol..While i was watching this, i looked over at my cat on the window sill, looked back to the tv and back to my cat. They look exactly alike. I mean EXACTLY..if my cat wasnt next to the window right now, id swear that was him..haha..same personality to. Id sit on the couch and eat something. He would jump up here and put his two front paws on my leg and just stare at me..haha.. Thanks for the drop and the idea. Im definitely gonna try it..

Bring along a baggie full of powdered gravy, just add water, and you can have biscuits and gravy. Best gravy I have found is the Morrison Country Style Peppered Gravy Mix at Walmart. It makes a better gravy than I can make myself. No affiliation or anything with that company, it is just good.

Reminds me of some stuff my dad called peanut butter junk to top biscuits. It was too sweet for me but apparently he had it a lot growing up. I've read accounts of old timers mixing bread stuffs up in the flour sack have you tried that? Pros and cons?
