The reason for the American football points system: Extra point is worth 1 point Safety is worth 2 points Field goal is worth 3 points Touchdown is worth 6 points. Reason a touchdown is worth 6 points and not only 4 or 5 is because it's harder to get than a field goal, so the other team would need two field goals just to equal one touchdown. It wouldn't be fair if your team worked harder to get a 4 point touchdown and the other team only had to kick two field goals and are winning 6-4.

Flopping is done (not because they're weak pussies) but mostly to trick the ref. It's a form of cheating. They try to sell it and yeah, it looks embarrassing. Pretty sure it happens in football too. Another reason they flop is because most of the time, the ref won't call a foul if they stay on their feet. So flopping is used to signal to the ref "hey bud, I'm getting fouled here and you aren't calling it."

They hyped the hell out of it but once in every promotion, they quietly mention it is a 100 grand candy bar. The guy that won was asked what he was going to do with his 100 grand. The winner started talking about paying of his mom's mortgage and things for his future. O and A then asked him how he could do all that with a candy bar. The guy blew a head gasket and went nuts over the phone on them. They were banned from Boston for broadcasting that the mayor, mayor Menino had died suddenly. They did this like a breaking news alert every so often during that show, much to the chagrin of the perfectly health mayor Menino who kept getting calls about his demise.

In American Football, with the scoring, keep in mind there are multiple ways to score points, it's not as simple as just putting a ball into a goal. 3 points for a field goal, and, basically, 7 points for a touch down, reflects the relative difficulty between doing the two things.

That 3 to 7 ratio was worked out over decades of transforming Rugby into American Football. For what ever reason, it stuck, and it works. Even baseball if u hit a home run with other players on the bases u can get multiple points rather then just 1 goal is one point then reset …. More strategy comes into the game especially at the end when u have more types of ways to score points

I think football or soccer or whatever you want to call it is a BRILLIANT sport! However, the one thing that really frosts my butt is when one team has played better the entire game, but through a bit of bad luck (wrong place, wrong time) just never scored and then in one moment, when the keeper loses his footing on wet grass, the lesser team scores a lucky goal and wins! I HATE that! The better team should win and I have a couple of suggestions to increase that chance. Here they are. #1 Make the size of the goals bigger. This would increase the total number of goals scored by BOTH sides, thus reducing the chance of a tie and the poorer team winning. #2 Have the equivalent of the 3-point line in basketball. Any goal scored, in which the ball is struck from outside of that line and is not touched by any other player on the offense before going in, is worth either 2 points or 3 points. #3 Make a penalty kick only worth 1 point, a standard goal worth 2 points, and a goal scored by being struck from outside the 3-point line, worth 3 points. To further push the reward toward a regular score, netted panels could be dropped down on each end for penalty kicks, making the goal the traditional size, so that a penalty kick isn't overly easy. Otherwise, change NONE of the other rules. Other than the size of the goal and amount of points awarded for each type of scoring, the game is PHENOMENAL!

I think the problem with soccer is that it lasts 90 minutes, sometimes more. Not to say that soccer doesn't care about winning or losing, but quicker games tend to put an emphasis on getting as many points on the board as possible. Obviously, there are other rules that also make other sports superior for Americans too. To garner American interest: shorten the field and decrease the time. A lot of times it's a bunch of people standing on the field.

What is the average time from start to finish of a standard MLB, NHL and NFL game? Soccer is 90 mins plus an average stoppage time of around 3-5 mins with a 15 min half time break. So from start to stop you’re looking at about 98 mins.

Soccer games overall are pretty short, over and done within 2 hours. One of the nice things about the sport. I'm not sure decreasing the time would help much. Punishing diving, having a red card not make a team go down a man permanently, anything to encourage teams to not "park the bus".

@@bigbake132 Maybe one less defender and one more offensive player on each team. It may only be 2 hours, but watching them battle it out for a 0-0 score is boring. Selling out US men's national team matches, having Charlotte FC drawing 70k to what's essentially a lower end of a table Championship league match tells me all about growth of soccer. You go back 25 years and tell them a pro soccer team between Atlanta and Charlotte would draw 72,000 to a game, they would have laughed at you silly...but here we are. Don't need all 330 million supporting the beautiful game...especially if they want to mess with changing what has worked everywhere else in the world.

@@chadh.johnson3550 Managers choose how many defenders vs attacking players they put in a lineup, its not a rule or anything. They could play with 8 strikers if they wanted to lol. They've been designing new helmets for decades, there won't be a perfect one that reduces CTE entirely. I love both sports so no hate either way. I think soccer has a place in America along with the other sports and will one day be 2nd or 3rd most popular behind football.

The only time I watch it is World Cup. Otherwise it just seems like an endless amount of running around like a chicken with your head cut off with no or barely any results from all that effort. And yes I’ve been to matches. I was bored to death. American football gives different amounts of points depending on what it is. Field goal 3, touchdown 6, extra point 1, safety 2.

@@Tharvey83 Ironically enough, Brits are the ones who came up with the term soccer. It's only stuffy Brits who act like it wasn't their terminology to begin with. They only shun the term because it became the popular nomenclature in the U.S. Soccer comes from Association Football. In the early 1800's soccer and rugby were played as two different variations of the same game. It wasn't until the mid-1800's that the Football Association and the Rugby Football Union were formed to codify the rules of each game so that kids from different schools could come together and compete under the same exact set of rules. The two sports then became officially known as Rugby Football, and Association Football. It was actually aristocratic British boys of the time who thought it "cool" to ad -er to the end of everything who started calling Rugby "rugger" and as "association-er" sounded odd, they went with "soccer". So the British only have rich British boys of 150 years ago to blame for the word soccer.

And that's why you have: Rugby Football Association Football American Football They all evolved from essentially the same game just with differing rule adjustments made over time.

Soccer just needs more contact without people pretending to get hit when they don't and flopping around on the ground...lol.
