Went to a Cowboy Bar after work on a Friday of a very busy week. Jack was an old timer whom all of us young bucks respected and often consulted. There were five of us and Jack was the first to the Juke Box. He put in several quarters while punching the buttons for his favorite Patsy Cline songs. He came back to our table and sat down. As Patsy Cline's incredible voice came floating through the smokey air..... Jack began to tear up a little. Her song transported Jack back to the 1950's. He pulled his money clip out of his pocket and peeled off a Hundred Dollar Bill and said, "I'll buy the first round".

Thanks for relating that story. God bless Jack. You know, it's amazing after all these years since her tragic death, Patsy's voice still moves people. She achieved so much in her very short life. She belongs to only a very select group of artists who had the "perfect" voice. You could feel the heartache and emotions pouring out when she sang. At least we still have her recordings to enjoy!

I read she had a throat infection and it affected her vocal chords and when she recovered her voice was booming in volume and charity. Pictures before her car accident really shocked me because she was really stunning. There has been a lot of "Great" female country talents but for me only one was the GREATEST. Well, some of it is, that you have taste! Today's country (aside from some Jamie Johnson) is not good enough to warrant the name. The reason is simple: the legitimate culture is dead. I have long believed that when we all still shed a tear on Aug. 16th, that we are no longer really grieving the death of Elvis. We are crying for ourselves and a place we no longer even recognize.

Authored by Hank Cochran in 1961, “She’s Got You” inspired Patsy Cline in a way that no other song had ever before. As the story goes, Cochran called Cline up as soon as he was finished writing the tune to let her know that he had composed her next #1 hit. Her friend Dottie West was visiting, and Cline told Cochran to bring a bottle of liquor, his guitar and the lay to her house for an impromptu listening session. Cochran later revealed that Patsy was so moved by the piece that she learned it on the spot, in love with the lyrics. She recorded it at her very next studio session (December 17, 1961), and fell in line nicely with her previous knockout, “Crazy” (1961). Released as a single on January 10, 1962, “She’s Got You” - an extremely lonesome composition that punches you in the gut - solidified Miss Cline’s status as an American icon. ONE MAJOR SUCCESS‼️ In 1977, Loretta Lynn issued a revival of it (for her tribute album to Cline, titled “I Remember Patsy”) that reached #1 on the Billboard Country chart❕💜🎶💚 May you rest in peace, Virginia Patterson Hensley, a.k.a. Patsy Cline (1932 - 1963)… 🌹

I love Patsy Cline. She is the greatest singer of all time. This song is so beautiful. Just listening to it brings back such wonderful and care-free memories. Music from the 50"s and 60"s was the best. Thanks KZitem for allowing me to listen to all the classics.

That may not be a bad thing at all Derek. The lady was truly blessed with a voice. I cannot thing of anyone in this era, that can match with her range. She was dearly blessed, unfortunately left us to soon. Even though that is the case, we still have her recordings to listen too.

yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together.....seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia
