I absolutely love how different Paul's performance of this song is to Frank's. He manages to make the (admittedly) self congratulatory and, frankly, narcissistic lyrics comes off as a way more introspective type of pride in oneself. I love both versions dearly, sometimes you're simply just in the mood for the self-confidence boost that you can get from singing along with Frank super loud in the car.

All the artists that sing that song, sing it different. Elvis did it good too. But I my favorite is Tom Jones. He sings that song with so much feeling. But that all being said. Paul sang it the way he imagined it, when he wrote it. Which makes it special. What a musical genius. ❤

I love this song and it's wonderfully sung by Paul Anka, Life like a dance follows us to the rhythm of music, our dreams, hopes and tangled events. The whole life is a journey in which we carry more and more experiences with us and constantly see something new. Sometimes there are tears and suffering, sometimes Happiness finds us. Life is like a lottery, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, you never know what the next day will bring ❤

Discovered this for the first time today when an old, rediscovered episode of Morecambe and Wise aired. His version on the show was even more removed from Sinatra’s. Paul’s voice and rendition of this song is incredible - far superior in my opinion to Sinatra. Brought tears to my eyes. I grew up in the 60s/70s and while I’d heard the name Paul Anka, I’d never heard him sing this - or realised what an amazing voice he has.

This song is Frank Sinatra and Frank Sinatra is this song - each lyric and each note is describing Frank's life...he sings it with the passion and emotion as though he is showing us his soul. No one can sing this song like Frank, he owns this song..he lived this song. This is his legacy. This is his story. Thank you Paul for writing this song for Mr. Sinatra...nice version by Paul.

He did write it for Sinatra specifically, since (1968) Sinatra was having his retirement, and even though it ended up being his first retirement and not last obviously no one knew at the time, so Paul wrote this song for him as a send off from what was already a long and successful career at that point.

Lyric, My Way And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain. My friend, Ill say it clear, Ill state my case, of which Im certain. Ive lived a life thats full. Ive traveled each and evry highway; And more, much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets, Ive had a few; But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway, But more, much more than this, I did it my way. Yes, there were times, Im sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way. Ive loved, Ive laughed and cried. Ive had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way, No, oh no not me, I did it my way. For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught. To say the things he truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows - And did it my way!

Yeah..So as Elvis Presley. The original singers were much better in many song. But the difference is their live performance. Their charisma n stage presence had a magical power to pull the audience in. EP "Suspicious Mind" the original song by Mark James is much better, yet omg Elvis live performance on stage is a breathtaking. You cant take eyes off him.

The original is the French song "Comme d'habitude" (as usual), from Claude François. But the creator of the English text was Paul Anka.
