It's Halloween 2018. And I've just found this on KZitem. Thank you for posting it up. I thought I'd never see it again. 31 years later it's lost none of its impact. And I have remembered it pretty accurately. Astonishing. I was 11 at the time and it stuck with me for weeks. Everyone in school was talking about it. Paul Daniels was a master and I'm so glad his work lives on , on the internet. The only act that has come close to this level of spectacle is Derren Browns work. Paul, you were the best. You are are missed. :-(

Just seen this mentioned in comments for the Halloween live edition of Inside No9 (which was great) thought I'd see if this was on YT. Great stuff

Agreed mate! Paul Daniels and Derren Brown are my heroes! I used to watch Paul Daniels Secrets show at my Nana's house on regular basis. Then Derren hit the scene and he has been the only person in the UK to reach the theatrical heights of PD! Paul got me into magic as a kid, and now Derren has got me studying mentalism! Both class acts! Indeed, this show really reminded me of Derren's Seance show. Both amazing shows!

I remember staying up and watching this, I was probably 11 years old. I always remember being fascinated by the alleged ghost caught on tape and the scene at the end when everyone thought he was dead. At the height of Paul's career, he was an unconventional and revolutionary magician mixing comedy with mystery and personality in the form of entertainment. RIP Paul.

Rex My favorite story about this illusion was after it ended, two policemen went by Paul’s mothers house. They asked her “are you all right?” To which his mother replied “oh yes I’m fine, he’s always doing things like that” RIP Paul

You know what's even more fascinating? That years have passed by, and despite you were a kid when you experienced such wonder, though, as an adult, even finding logical explanations for any of the effects you saw, none of that erases the wonder once hit you deeply by then. That will remain in your heart always, despite knowing how an effect works. And not that we know how Paul Daniels did anything, btw! But I was just reflecting how, once magic releases fascination in someone, there is no way to take that fascination back... great magicians and artists as Paul Daniels, were spreaders of wonder to the world, til this day, and many generations more to come.

The post credit scene should've consisted of Paul drinking a glass of water then the same liquid spurting out of his chest

The programme that followed this was Monty Python's Flying Circus. While it was on, the BBC was supposedly beseiged with calls genuinely scared that Paul had been killed, to the point that a special announcement was made after MPFC confirming that it was just a trick.

In the silence at the end, before the fade-out, you can hear the director's voice in the gallery calling instructions to the vision mixier.

Clandon Park sadly lost all of it's beautiful interiors seen here when in April 2015 a large fire destroyed the interiors. Such a shame this beautiful building is now a shell.

@@joshwiddowson1761 I recorded that evening as I was out, so I saw (and played numerous times) his appearance after Monty Python. He came out of the Iron Maiden and said "You were warned before the programme started, nothing is as it seems. I'm fine - thanks for all your phone calls - and I'll see you next time on the Paul Daniels Magic Show. Trick or Treat...!!" He then gave a spooky laugh and went back into the Iron Maiden, closing the door. :)
