Carl Maria Von Weber Oberon Act 1 scene 2 Sir Huon of Bordeaux: Paul Frey Oberon: Philip Langridge Sherasmin: Benjamin Luxon conductor: Seiji Ozawa Edinburgh 1988
He is a great sounding tenor and should be more well known.

Great Lohengrin and Siegmund in Bayreuth. Bacchus with Jessye Norman, too (Kurt Masur)

What a great tenor! Too bad he is mostly forgotten. He was sort of the Ben Heppner just before Ben Heppner

Yes Paul Frey was a terrific singer. I came across him in Berlioz Les Troyens in Nice - not too long after his Bayreuth success. A very dedicated, honest artist in that most difficult role of Aeneas. I would love to see this complete performance - Philip Langridge also excellent .

He is not forgotten, he is the best Tenor I know. I think, he does'nt make publicity of his own, because is modest.

I think he is a better singer than Ben, and that is saying something. Mr. Frey's Wagner was effortless, as is the above. Ben was quite good at forcing his voice.

@@Tenortalker Didn't John Vickers sing the really taxing and most difficult role of the AENEAS in a complete version?
