I am 76 and I have just discovered this piece of music Thank you so much for writing it And to those dear people who went you are amazing and so brave - thank you so much more Why do still have to have war? I mean the human race has evolved so much especially in the last 100 years Why can’t we settle our political differences by just communicating not confronting?
@billywayne902

Why ? There’s evil beings it’s not the person it’s the thing that made a home in them. Lucifer has been here Sense the beginning. We are in school. Here on earth we are in it not from it. Life is eternal. We are Energy. Energy never burns out or fade out it continues. War is part of people being in a fallen state. I wish you well.

Can't blame you guys for PTSD. You never knew what your fought for. That f*ck you up. In wars you fight to either protect Your territory or to expand it. Korea and Vietnam were Political Wars (Capitalists vs Communists), that was what is was. The USA were never threatened. The politicians should fight their own battles on the field - Cowards!! Who can blame the natives for defending their territory? If you gonna invade, you need a valid reason to invade (to claim land for your own expansion).

I loved this when it came out in 1985, England, we couldnt stop talking about the video at school, it was our Bohemian Rhapsody moment if you like, our history teacher, took the opportunity to teach us briefly about the Vietnam war, how it started why the Americans got involved. Bloody horrific really, She was asked will their ever be a time when there will be no wars in the world? No she said, because there is no profit in peace. And most of our world leaders are fanatics. Prophetic words indeed. Mrs. Bissel parkfields wolverhampton

"19" is a song by British musician Paul Hardcastle, released as the first single from his self-titled fourth studio album Paul Hardcastle (1985). The song has a strong anti-war message, focusing on the United States' involvement in the Vietnam War and the effect it had on the soldiers who served. The track was notable for early use of sampled and processed speech, in particular a synthesized stutter effect used on the words "nineteen" and "destruction". It also includes various non-speech, re-dubbed sampling, such as crowd noise and a military bugle call.

My father served in Vietnam in 1969-‘70 i believe in the Marine Corps. As a child I Kept asking him to tell me what went on there and he refused to tell Me until i got older. At age 16 or 17 he sat me down one afternoon for 2 hours explaining his experience of fire fights, death and close Calls on his life there. Horror n all. After that he never spoke to Me again about nor that wanted to hear anymore . Horrific.

I was in army from september 1993 until september 1994. I entered gates of military barracks as a student of 20 years of age. I left military barracks at the age of 21(?,really much more) plus terrific experiences ( seeing guys taking drugs (I never saw before ever, now it was daily routine, passing by drug addicts ) conflicts about anything and everything, alcohol making people destructable) without taking a part in a war and "survival friendships" ( nicest part of 363 days I was in army ) with hormonal disbalance ( 12 months with extensive physical activity was needed for me to come into hormonal balance, one whole year ). If I continued my studies I would be richest man in the World ( I have physics& formula from 1988 ). Now I am a World "situation" expert ( And I have physics& formula from 1988, and now is 2024 ). I was used and abused because I am clever not to become rich ( And I have still most complex physics& formula from 1988 year ). Sending someone with most complex ever invented physics& formula from 1988 (my work, my knowledge, my secret) was the biggest mistake done by any army in the World ever. And pay check was a state jock. If this is a lie my place when I applied to be student of Economy in Belgrade University is not. Military environment is mentally destructive for any person. For myself it was strategy change. From gaining economic knowledge for my personal business adventure it became battle with system going against myself ( I was attacked by the system ). Environment for the business is a key for any normal business thriving.

And here I am today, over 19 years ago living and working here in Saigon living near the battlefields which is now a land of mixed-use development of hungry rich capitalists!

I never respond to comments on this video because the stories are very often atrocious and sad. I am not American, I only know this war through your wonderful films. I'm answering you because your story ends wonderfully. I wish you an excellent end-of-year celebration from a Frenchman who was 6 years old when this title was released (a French version spoken by a journalist from 1 p.m., Yves Mourousi also exists). Merry Christmas to you both.
