It's hard to believe the change in weather between Blackpool and South Lakes Safari Zoo. We were in two minds whether to risk visiting as there had been floods in the area, but we took a gamble and managed to get there OK, although most of the days was heavy rain.
That didn't put us off and we had a great day here and saw most of the animals, it's just a shame some (such as the rhinos) were kept indoors due to the weather. I bet in the Summer this place looks great.
Whilst we didn't do an animal experience, we did pay to feed a penguin (£1 a fish) and fed a giraffe a piece of fruit which was fun. The highlight was watching the tigers climbing the massive wooden poles to collect their dinner, it was a great sight.
There are a lot of free roaming animals - kangaroos, lemurs, birds - More than your usual zoo. Most were inside when we visited, so would like to get a different perspective in the Summer.
An enjoyable visit, even with the horrendous weather!
