I feel like the claim that once at 60 fps it has to be at 60 is not true. The number of frames that are sent is entirely dependent on the available bandwith, so the highest it would broadcast at is 60 and if it's below 60 then you will see some frame drops. Quality won't decline. Am I wrong?

Companies want you to believe that you aren't allowed to talk about your salary with other employees, but it is actually a federally protected right. Employers cannot keep you from discussing salary and they cannot retaliate against you for it. For a long time, talking about pay was considered taboo. This taboo was pushed by large corporations for decades, but there has been a movement to break that taboo with Millennials and even more so with Gen Z.

@@bernan1 Sponsorship relationships aren't the same thing as employment, and most of what disc golfers are being paid isn't coming from a salary. In this case, the manufacturers have every right to keep private the details regarding how players are compensated. (Guarantees, performance targets, royalties, etc.) Uli even mentions in the podcast that most of what he makes each year isn't coming from his guaranteed income/base pay, but from merchandise. If the pros want clarity on the sponsorship process, all they have to do is throw their contracts in a pile for all to see, and take steps to unionize. Only a handful at the top have disclosed their yearly guaranteed income, but I haven't heard anyone dropping information about disc sales, bonuses, or royalties. This isn't a corporation.

A lot of misinformation getting spread regarding the 60fps change. 1: It won't change the quality (the resolution it's being filmed at is unrelated), it will change how our eyes see it, 60fps will look muuuch smoother than 30, and I would consider a requirement for any streamed sport. 2: It won't necessarily change the "slow-mo", that is determined by the fps it's being filmed at. For example: If the cameras are filming at 120fps, and that's what the booth is getting, then they can slow it down 4x and have a 30fps slow-mo to display on the stream. If the booth is just looking at a laptop playing the stream then it will let them slow things down and look smoother. 3: If they don't address the transmission issue from the camera's to whatever "cell tower/wifi" solution they have, then it will negatively effect the stream quality since now you're trying to send 60 images per second where before you were only sending 30. Or you'll have a rough stream where some holes are 60fps and some are 30fps, or worst case scenario it's stuck at 60fps and now in spots where 30fps would have held up ok you're cutting the resolution in half because you're still sending out 60fps. But, at the end of the day all these points could be moot, because we don't know how DGN's production is done. There are a large number of factors that could change/alter the above statements. It boils down to money, money for infrastructure and money for the correct employees working in said infrastructure.
@SamMattson
10 ай бұрын
Glad this is brought up. Regardless of how DGN starts the stream, the bottleneck is the transmission from the cameras to AWS. If that connection is not good, it will affect the broadcast. AWS can buffer or use other mitigation all they want, but if signal drops from the cameras because they lose connection out in the woods, there's nothing AWS will help with there. Take, for example, this stream. Uli and Brodie look like mud, but when Silas puts up a graphic it looks crisp. This means there's a bottleneck between Uli/Brodie and Silas, and Silas has a good connection. My guess is because Uli/Brodie don't have great upload speeds. Many internet providers don't provide great upload speeds with their big download speeds unless you have the more expensive business class or if you go with fiber. It may also have something to do with transcoding, but I'd guess it's the upload speed from the fellas.

People need to learn the difference between money paid out as sponsorship and money paid as wages. Unless you are a very top of the round executive you have a federally protected right to discuss your wages as an employee. Be careful before weighing into legal cases again. If you don't know what you're talking about, you can easily misrepresented what happened. Regarding the McBeth lawsuit, the plaintiff did not drop the case or back out. Rather, he failed to comply with discovery requests. In discovery, the defendant basically gets carte blanche to investigate the plaintiff so that he knows fully what he is facing. The reason it took so long to dismiss is because it's not a case of him saying, "I won't comply, nevermind, I'm out." Rather, it's that he is given time to respond and repeatedly failed to do so.

Brodie's take on not sharing your salary because it could make other players jealous is terrible. He's taking the side of corporations who make the same argument, but really they are afraid of people using someone else's salary to help negotiate theirs. If you're jealous someone is making more than you then maybe you need to reevaluate that because you should take it up with whoever is paying you. You need to figure out from them why that person is making more than you. Why be upset for a person getting paid for their work? Plus, it's federally protected for individuals to discuss their salary with their peers.

My sweet beagle got attacked by my neighbor’s dog while I was walking him one time. Big dog. Mutt. 80 lbs. he came charging up and started attacking my beagle and he was so sweet he didn’t even defend himself. He just flopped over and exposed his belly and neck. Then time seemed to slow. I saw the dog start to lunge for his neck and somehow, I got there before the dog did, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him over my head. The neighbor then ran over to me yelling to put his down down and that he was sorry. The problem was his dog was always outside without a leash, and it had a reputation for being aggressive. Apparently, it attacking my dog wasn’t the first dog it attacked. So I threw that dog at him. It flew across the street and landed close to the center of the street and skidded to the middle line and then ran back to the neighbor’s house. I told him that if that dog ever attacked my dog again, I’d kill it. It shocked my neighbor and me, but I was just so mad. Nobody ever got attacked by that dog again to my knowledge. The icing on the cake was that neighbor used to be my baseball coach. It is funny how sometimes you just react

The interesting thing for me as a viewer of sport, with the question of how much money makes someone, is three things. Is there enough money in the sport to sustain a large enough field of players to liv like a pro. So you can concentrate on your job of being an athlete and keeps the sport interesting to watch longterm! Is the money coming from a source that has some kind of human integrity. And we all know and can sense where that line should lie! (look at LIV-tour in golf. Very bad in my view) I do not need to know how contracts are in detail but it is interesting to know a general idea of what discgolfers make as a viewer. Just like in any other job in the world. DGN was better before Vimeo. Hopefully this returns it to pre Vimeo functionality. Pause and rewind live broadcasts.

Eagle is gone, he’s announcing Jan 15th. I posted that on foundation a week ago.cant say where but it’s less than a million per year guaranteed with the chance to get to that 7 figure mark with some incentives.

California Man here. Nothing is more annoying than Entitled Dog owners who think they know dogs, but really don’t. They make assumptions about their own dog, their “little Angel” never being in the wrong, just like parents who think their little Tommy could never be that naughty, bad kid doing “That”. It’s not necessarily the dog’s fault. It’s definitely the parent(s)/owners.

All contracts can be different. So there could be something in there where if you don't resign or if you break the contract (you were signed for 4 years and left after 2) they get a grace period to still sell products with your name and likeness.

I don't even flinch at mass shooting stories anymore. It's constant. It's part of life in the USA. It will never change. Get used to it. I don't mean to say it isn't a tragedy. It is. But I can't be constantly upset about something that is happening every week. You have to get desensitized to things that happen all the time that will never change. Just hope it never happens to people I know directly. Happened to friends of family in Buffalo, but never anyone I know.
