Still celebrating the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's debut solo album, I'd like to post a tribute video, that I recorded a few months ago, of one of the highlights of the album.
"Every Night" was a song that was composed by McCartney and first performed during The Beatles’ Get Back sessions at Apple Studios, on 21 and 24 January 1969. On the first occasion it was a brief solo rendition while the group was working on ‘Dig A Pony’, though the second had some slide guitar accompaniment by John Lennon. A few months later, Paul McCartney completed the song while he's on holiday with his wife Linda and her daughter Heather in Greece, where they stayed in the village of Benitses.
The lyrics of "Every Night" reflect the difficult situation McCartney was dealing with at the time the song was written, which was in light of the imminent breakup of the Beatles. The words do, however, convey some optimism for the future and showed how he had found solace, motivation and love in the domesticity he enjoyed with his wife Linda. Like "Maybe I’m Amazed", it revealed how Linda had become a stabilising influence upon him.
The song was recorded properly by Paul McCartney on 22 February 1970 at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, playing all the instruments by himself. He booked a session to mix the songs "Valentine Day" and "That Would Be Something", and afterwards recorded "Every Night" and "Maybe I’m Amazed". He really did a fabulos job singing and playing his acoustic guitar. Then, he later recorded overdubs of more acoustic guitars, bass and drums.
Hope you enjoy my humble tribute to his great song!!! Stay safe and Peace & Love.
