What's amazing to me is, even with George as clearly reluctant to participate, he still harmonizes so effortlessly and beautifully. The music just comes flowing out.

It's amazing to me that George agreed to any of this in the first place. Perhaps it was in the contract for the Anthology Series and he was participating in it for the money. Apparently they were supposed to perform a symbolic version of Let It Be to be filmed for the conclusion of the Anthology TV series. But after a long discussion in the garden the idea was scrapped and they did some oldies instead.

They were more like family than friends. They butted heads a lot and could even get *really* pissed off with each other - plus they had to work with each other in close proximity for many years without a break -, but they were still very fond of each other at the end of the day (they’d known each other too long to *not* be). I think they were all just glad to end The Beatles and be allowed to live their own lives and have their own solo careers because it was well-known that there was such a power struggle within the band between John and Paul (John was a control freak who wanted the last say on everything, and Paul was a perfectionist with impossibly high standards) that was tearing the band apart.

@Southerner Forever The Beatles wanted to shoot a new film (previous movies e.g. Help, Hard Day's Night...) for a TV special, showing them working on their latest album, Let it Be. Differences between them had been grown for years and so Let it Be was showing them at work but also fighting very much. The movie "Let it Be" was therefore never published (Paul and Ringo were heavily against the publication). Peter Jackson's "Get Back" shows the footage of that time, except for the disputes...

most likely because Paul suggested doing a song with him-self as lead vocals. That is one thing George has always been bitter about, the fact that Lennon and Paul never quite treated him as an equal, they never allowed him to publish many songs in the albums and also didn't let him perform lead very often. George might of thought after all these years and arguments that Paul would of gave him the honour of lead vocals, as it would probably of meant a lot to him.

"they never allowed him to publish many songs in the albums" Bull. He had three songs on Revolver because he was their friend, not because he could write songs as well as they could then. @billybob5337

@@thebrazilianatlantis165 Thats not really true. I mean look at the White Album. He had "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Without question a song that easily measures up to anything else on that album. He also had written "Not Guilty" for that. A hell of a song that got passed over. Look at the psychedelic period. George created some true fucking masterpieces during that time like "Its All Too Much" and "Only a Northern Song". How about "Taxman"? "If I Needed Someone". "Long, Long, Long." "The Inner Light", "I, Me, Mine." I mean come on. George, when he got the CHANCE......usually knocked his 2-3 songs out of the fucking park, starting with Rubber Soul.
@NotodiusTWO

@@billybob5337 George has 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' on the white album, arguably one of the best songs on it, and not the greatest two other songs 'Long, long, long' and 'Savoy Truffle'. While Paul had 'Blackbird', 'Martha my Dear', 'Mother's Natures Son', 'Helter Skelter', 'I Will', 'Back in the USSR', ' Ob-la-di, ob-la-da' and 'Rocky Raccon'. And John, poor John, only had 'Dear Prudence', 'Glass Onion', 'Happiness is a Warm Gun', 'I'm So Tired', 'Julia', 'Yer Blues', 'Sexy Sadie', 'Revolution 1' Don't get my wrong George is incredibly talented but his prowess compared to John and Paul cannot be compared.
@cockoffgewgle4993
Жыл бұрын
George got marginalised from the start. John and Paul would write together and got co-writing credits. And they would reject George's songs constantly. It was 2vs1. Also, George was lead guitarist on most of the songs and wrote most of the lead guitar parts. Songwriting credits make no sense. You get credited as writer if you come up with the original concept, lyrics and chord sequence, but not if you write key, distinctive parts. You're a band and everyone should get a writing credit for all songs.@@NotodiusTWO
