Such a raw and impassioned performance of this amazing song, perhaps Paul’s peak as a performer and vocalist at this point.

Paul’s voice live sounds so good. The live version of this song is better than the studio version.

A very strong song by Paul, maybe one of his very best. Paul wrote this song in 1969 shortly after John Lennon had left the Beatles und published it on his first solo album in 1970.

Great song by Paul.......Your comments about the Beatles growing once they separated....that is really the case for George, his solo work is really good and very consistent......and of course he ended up forming the Travelling Wilburys perhaps the most unusual supergroup of all time.

The best version, so intimate and profound and wild and genuine is the album version!! Just give it a try on your own and he's voice is even better!!

Amazing song. The Rockshow DVD is absolutely fantastic. Every live version of this song is brilliant. The one I always hear on the radio is from the live album Wings Over America. Glad you enjoyed it Wayne!

I think I’ve requested this before. I hope you’ll check out The Beatles’ Revolution #9, the strangest Beatle track. Love it or hate it, you’ll see how experimental they were. Thanks.

The Beatles split because of interpersonal squabbles, not because they'd run of creativity. So Paul and John continued to make strong material afterward. What you noticed is that Harrison, who had been squelched somewhat in The Beatles, blossomed solo. For more Wings, I nominate what I think is their best song, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five. A great beat, good Paul vocals, a bit proggy, builds to a big climax.

For me it’s not a patch on the original song on the McCartney album, as it’s a rawer on his first solo album.

John, Paul and George all had big egos and after a while, it's gotta fall apart. They all needed to be the main focus after being part of a group.

You really should listen to the studio original. The Rockshow version has great live energy, which has its place, but it's overblown, and a lot of the subtlety and dynamic variation in Paul's original gets steamrollered flat here.
@patticrichton1135

I disagree, there is NO passion in the recorded version, and it's shorter and just ends with some music. I prefer his LIVE concert vocals, he is much more passionate, it goes on longer and has a better ending than the studio.

@@patticrichton1135 Tastes vary. The live version is a lot noisier, I'll grant you. To me, that's mere "sound and fury, signifying nothing". But we have both, and that's all good.
