"Call Me Back Again" is a definite highlight from the album for me. Info I found regarding horns- trumpets: Clyde Kerr, John Longo, Steve Howard Michael Pierce: alto saxophone Alvin Thomas: tenor saxophone Carl Blouin: baritone saxophone "I just ad-libbed a bit and had a go. It was a chance to sing. Then we put the brass on it - I like the brass on it. Tony Dorsey helped me on that in New Orleans." - Paul McCartney Rolling Stone, July 1975

It is brilliant especially Paul's vocals but unbelievably the live version packs even more power. This is Paul doing Oh! Darlin' in his Wings period. It is songs like this that make me believe this album deserves just as much praise as BONT. This is a 10/10 McCartney track for me.

Absolutely love this song, one of my all time McCartney favorites. The Wings Over America version is my absolute favorite. McCartney laying down some BLUE EYED SOUL!

Another good track from this album - with a nice vocal from Paul. Here's some info about all the drummers for Wings... Denny Seiwell was hired by Paul in the fall of 1970 - to drum on the "Ram" album. He stayed with Paul when he formed Wings for their first album "Wild Life" - and for the second Wings album "Red Rose Speedway". He quit the band just before they left to record "Band on the Run" in Africa. He was with Paul from October of 1970 through July of 1973. Denny played with many other well known artists in the 70s such as: John Denver, Astrud Gilberto, Billy Joel, Donovan, Art Garfunkel, Rick Danko and Liza Minelli. He also played drums on film scores for movies like "Waterworld" and "Grease 2"... and for TV shows like "Happy Days" and "Knots Landing". He was born in Pennsylvania and joined the Navy after high school - and was in the Navy Band. After leaving the Navy, he moved to New York City - and that is where he was when McCartney held an audition for a drummer (for his "Ram" album sessions). After leaving Wings, he moved to Los Angeles and is still there today. He will be 81 in July. Paul was the drummer for Wings on the "Band On The Run" album. Geoff Britton was hired in the summer of 1974 to be the new Wings drummer. Geoff and new guitarist (Jimmy McCulloch) were both new hires when the band recorded the next single in July of 1974 ("Junior's Farm"/"Sally G"). So Geoff Britton was the Wings drummer for about 6 months (July of 1974 to January 1975). He played drums on just five Wings songs: "Junior's Farm," "Sally G", "Letting Go", "Love In Song" and "Medicine Jar". Geoff was in band called East of Eden in 1969 and then the Wild Angels in the early 1970s. After leaving Wings - he was in Rough Diamond and then Manfred Mann's Earth Band to finish out the 70s. He was in The Keys in the early 1980s. He was a kickboxer and ran the Mugendo kickboxing school in London. He was born in London - and I think he still lives there. He will be 81 in August. Joe English was born in Rochester, New York. He was in a band called Jam Factory based in Syracuse , NY - that eventually became the Tall Dogs Orchestra. He saw an add that was looking for a drummer in January of 1975 - and was surprised when he found that the audition was in the basement of an old building. He was a hundred more times shocked when he saw it was Paul McCartney that he would be auditioning for. He got the job... and just like that - he was Wings new drummer - and they were recording Wings new LP ("Venus and Mars"). He is the drummer on 10 of the 13 tracks. And before he knew it... they were off on a world tour that would go through 1975 and well into 1976. He was the drummer for all of the tracks on the 1976 "Wings at the Speed of Sound" album, on the 1977 "Girls School" single - and was on 10 of the 14 tracks of the 1978 Wings album ("London Town"). He felt homesick after being away for so long - and left the group before they had finished the "London Town" recording sessions. Paul took over the drums for the other 4 tracks on the LP. Joe was the Wings drummer from January of 1975 to September of 1977. Back in the US, he eventually ended up in Macon, Georgia in a band called Sea Level. He became a born again Christian in the early 1980s and formed the Joe English Band in which he was the drummer and lead singer. They toured the world with other Christian bands in the 80s. In 1986 he drummed for a band called "Pieces of Eight". At the end of the 80s he was in a group called the "Compassion All Star Band". In 1990 he joined the "World Faith Fellowship" in North Carolina and he has remained involved with the music of that church since. He will be 75 in July. Steve Holley was Wings last drummer. He joined the band in August of 1978 and did the drumming on the group's 1979 single ("Goodnight Tonight"/"Daytime Nighttime Suffering") and their 1979 album ("Back To The Egg"). He was born in London. He was in a band called Horse before Wings and did session work. He worked with Elton John both before being in Wings and after. He also worked with Kiki Dee, Joe Cocker, Tommy Shaw, Julian Lennon, Dar Williams, Richard Barone, Ben E. King and Chuck Berry. He was in a band called Reckless Sleepers in the 80s. And he has been touring as a member of Ian Hunter's Rant Band for several years now. He will be 71 in August.

And what about Paul McCartney after Wings? Whatever happened to him? I mean, he's been the band'a drummer on two different stints (1973-1974 and 1977-1978), after all… (I'm joking)

Since joining the Word of Faith Fellowship, Joe has been very low profile and difficult to access. But he credits them with getting him clean after all other avenues had failed.

Joe English became a born-again Christian and made several Christian rock albums. I actually saw him at a small venue in Dayton Ohio around 1983 after his move to the Christian rock genre.

Venus and Mars is my favorite post-Beatles McCartney album. Band on the Run gets all the love - and it’s a tremendous record in its own right - but Venus and Mars is just so much more fleshed out. Jimmy McCullough, God rest him, was so good on this album…you had a proper BAND as opposed to just Paul and Linda and Denny Laine (God rest Linda and Denny as well) and overdubs. And this song specifically…everyone completely kicking it in the ass. Best McCartney vocal this side of “Oh! Darling”. And THE DRUMS…so much more than your basic blues dirge. They take the lead; even the bass follows. The New Orleans influence on this album is glorious, and no Mardi Gras celebration is complete without it (as well as the bonus material included on the 2nd disc of the 2014 Archives reissue edition).

The Oh Darling of Venus And Mars..no the longest fade out in Rock N Roll History is Hey Jude from "thats enough" all some who think it is "fcuk"...listen carefully..you may find George Harrison actually utters the legendary words...look at the Trident Studios recordings...there is a video made for TV..no not the David Frost Show.... to utter the famous phrase 'Once you hear it, you cannot unhear it' ❤

Yes I am well aware of George's F bomb in Jude. Pretty sure he's saying "F%@*ing 'ell". That's the way that most of us Beatle tribute guys are doing it anyways.
