Thank you. I really enjoyed that ride. I'm originally from Accrington and rode many of those roads back in the day..... I recognized many of the pubs (can't think why). Such a buzz coming down Whitebirk Drive (where did that power station go?) and arriving at the Intack. I emigrated to Canada in '75 - so your video was such a treat. Thank you again. Cheers.

Hi DaveD. I'm chuffed you enjoyed my ride through our part of Lancashire. I can only imagine how you felt watching it. The power station went in the late 70s/early 80s. Of course there is a motorway (M65) that stretches from near Bamber Bridge to Colne. It was supposed to go right through to Skipton and through into West Yorkshire but for obvious economic reasons, this never happened. Some call it the "Motorway to nowhere". This is true, however it did take away an awful amount of traffic away from Blackburn, Rishton, Accrington, Padiham and Burnley. The original 'motorway' into Yorkshire was meant to be the A59 from Samlesbury at 5 bar gate. This is clear by the extra wide bridges over the A59 from Langho onwards. This would have definitely been cheaper however East Lancashire did need some sort of bypass due to heavy traffic building up. Do you remember the garage with the sports car on the canopy near the Red Lion Pub? You simply wouldn't recognise the area now. The electricity pilons had to be moved over to accommodate the motorway and Whitebirk junction. My late wife and her parents were thinking of emigrating to Canada in the mid Eighties. My late wife had an Aunt in Vancouver. At the time I was relieved that it didn't happen (We were not married at that time and I was very much a home lad) really especially when I see what is happening over there now. I was Widowed in 2017 after Lynn and I were struck by another motorbike in the Scottish Borders. Lynn died instantly and I suffered life changing injuries resulting in me having to give up motorcycling. I have my many videos and photos for memories of our many adventures on the bike. I'm actually leaving Blackburn myself soon and starting a new life with my new partner in North Devon. I wish you all the best. Please enjoy my other videos. Paul.

I was born in Blackburn,1953,and was brought up on Ramsgreave Road. These days,I live in Manchester, and spent my working life teaching in Radcliffe, near Bury.I must've played your vid' footage between what was Brownhill roundabout and the public house 'The Rising Sun' about a dozen times, pressing 'pause' continuously, and bringing back childhood/teenage memories....I still love my home town!!(Despite how different it all is now.....) I loved living in Blackburn, the people were so friendly and kind. I lived there 40 years ago in St Silas road and worked at Cowies so sad things changed. I remember it beginning to snow and everyone started singing as we all waited for the buses at the station. It looks so different now

Yes, the town is in real decline I'm afraid. This evening I heard about a brothel in Stephen Street Mill Hill! I grew up on Francis Street and this news breaks my heart. There is drug dealing that goes on behind Bonsall Street. You have to wonder what the hell the Police are doing! Thanks for watching my video and commenting.

Lovely, that took me right back. Ridden most of those roads many times back in the very early 80's. I'm a year older than you and grew up on York Lane ... grew up even more in the Vulcan. 2:30 am in south eastern Bulgaria, 35+ years on in time and riding those roads again :) Cheers !

I'm really glad you enjoyed my video. I only ever went in the Vulcan once lol! I rode a Honda C90 back then and so didn't feel I fitted in there. I don't ride at the moment due to a fatal crash in which my sweet wife died in 2017. I suffered life changing injuries to my left leg. You're in Bulgaria? My Wife, Daughter and I went to Albena resort in 1993 for our annual holiday. Happy memories. Thanks again for watching and commenting. All the best.

I enjoyed that. I left Blackburn in 84 for Australia. I spent a lot of time driving and riding around Blackburn, (Honda CB 250, Kawasaki 250cc triple, 850 Commando Mk III, Norton 650SS and Suzuki GS1000). I have been back a couple of times and I'm looking forward to going back again once this dreaded Corvid is sorted out but I won't go in winter. It's much more pleasant in Summer. Shame to see all the pubs boarded up though. I also spent much too much time in the Vulcan when I was younger. I used to like Friday and Saturday nights in the town. Sorry to read about your wife's death. Liked and subscribed.

Hi John. Thank you for watching my video, commenting and sharing your own very interesting story about our town, and subscribing to my channel. You said you spent too much time in the Vulcan, being a proper biker, you did exactly the right thing. I only went in the once mainly because I had my Honda C50 and two Honda C90s from 1980 to 1984. Mind you, I toured England on these C90s so didn't stop me in that regard. You say you left Blackburn in 1984, well that year is dear to my heart. I met Lynn that year and there started the best 33 years of my life. Thank you for your kind words about Lynn's loss. These videos are a valuable resource and comfort to me now. I used to say to Lynn how we would be able to watch these rides into our old age. We were planning on going to Australia in 2018. We met a really nice couple in Brisbane via KZitem when we owned the BMW K1600. He too owns a K1600 as well as a R1200RT. The plan was to go to Oz and ride one of these bikes with him around QLD and NSW. Sadly of course this didn't happen. All the best John. Paul. 🤝

Hi I'm a Blackburnian & just discovered this video, it's great Paul. I'm up to where you arrive at the vets, & to be continued! Looking forward to the rest and seeing your other videos too now. About the workhouse - you probably know it wasn't just for criminals to be locked away. It was for anyone poor, infirm or disabled who were otherwise unable to work to support themselves or their family, many who had found themselves in a poor situation through circumstances no fault of their own - in the days before welfare state benefits etc. Many Victorian & Edwardian era orphaned children grew up there.

Hi Cas. Thank you for your info re the workhouse. A far cry to how things are now. They demand all things free now of course! I'm glad you are enjoying my video and the channel. A lot has happened to me since this video and these videos remind me of better times.

Really enjoyed the rest of the ride Paul, from the vets onwards. Very relaxing to watch the views along the familiar roads, and with great choice of music too. Good to see a video showing the lovely countryside on the outskirts of our town, rather than the built-up inner town area. Thanks so much for sharing it. Great video.

@@npr1300A8 oh my, that is so sad to hear Paul, and only in 2017, it must still be very raw for you, I'm sure you must miss her terribly. So yes your life certainly has changed completely since you made these videos. Is that Lynn, the lady I think I've seen on at least one of your other videos, and with the little girl. Treasured memories for you 💕

.....interesting - there's a few roads I've never been down before, like 'Lovely Hall Road' and York Road...I was thinking of doing a tour round all the really old pubs around here, like the Red Lion 1735 and the Roebuck 1753....before they close down and get converted into takeaways ! There was a timbered pub from the 1600's in the middle of Blackburn , until it was demolished to make way for the shopping centre in the 60's....I used to have a few books about 'olde Blackburn'....but gave them all away to relatives - or they were 'borrowed' and I never got them back!
