@Shannon I did as well, and I found out we lost him a few months after the fact but the show here must have been in the last month of his life; I was dumbstruck. I also saw Westerberg in Atlanta on tour years ago knowing Tommy Keene was playing with him, certainly around the time of this video - sure do like me some Westerberg but was mainly hoping Tommy might step out front with a few originals... Ah but it was a great show. Those were the only times that I know he came through town here... so sad. Both men stellar and remarkable talents.

@promitra9356

Josh played with him during the 14 Songs tour as did David Minehan on guitar, both of whom played with Paul and Tommy during the Replacements reunion shows from 2013-2015. On that tour, Paul's manager/agent Darren Hill played bass (double duty.. lucky or unlucky?). For the Eventually tour, I believe Josh and Michael Bland (Prince) split drum duties, Tommy Keene (R.I.P.) played lead guitar, and Ken Justine played bass. During the Folker tour (Paul's last full tour with a backup band), he had Bland on drums, Jim Boquist (Son Volt) on bass, and Kevin Bowe on guitar. I saw them in San Francisco when Paul smashed a Gibson junior and a piece of it cut him behind his ear.

Just an incredible performance, probably one of the best late-night show offerings ever. This song should have been a hit single, even in 1996, a year that the Goo Goo Dolls ended up with the 24th-ranked single on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Name," a tune that is thoroughly saturated with PW's influence.

I was never the biggest fan of this song, I always found some of the "rockers" on Eventually to be the weaker part of the album. But I agree with others who say this live performance sounds much better and gives the song more life. But, I have to say that the section at 2:42 always impressed me. A really clever addition to the song that takes you by surprise. Also, Tommy Keene's playing in general is great as always.
