Agree with Russ. Centerline stripes on 2 way streets must be yellow to conform to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Really enjoyed George's technique using sparkling. Going to try it. According to MUTCD, centerline stripes should be 10' of stripe and 30' skip. Suggest you try a product by Highways and Byways. Their symbols and legends conform to the MUTCD. The products adhear well and look great when finished. Can be weathered. I have used both N and HO products and am very pleased with the results. So much faster than masking and airbrushing.

Thanks for the follow up segment on roads! Would it be possible to include a segment in the future depicting rural or dirt roads? I have had modest success with various supplies from Woodland Scenics, but would like to see what others have done to create realistic dirt/gravel roads.

I paint the road the stripe color, then use 1/16” tape to mask the stripes and airbrush the road a very light grey. Weathering oil and tire marks darkens everything. This method saves a lot of masking.

Seriously Ken? Randy's efforts here are commendable, but his elbow covered up half plus of the demonstration? Ok so over done for a rural road. Where the road goes, the wheels will follow!! Next. - Alex "The EL Guy"

interesting video. great result using that spray gun for the painting markings in the road. But you could try something much easier and much faster and that is white tape for whiteboards lines. You get them in several sizes (and colors) and they cost not much. The thinnest ones could also be used for holding your freightcarsloads, looks great on lumber. I have used them in Ho and N scale. Thanks !

At 5:10 he explains why he paints them on. The your tape is useful in other applications.

Center Stripes should be yellow if each lane is going a different direction, George. Nice shoulders for your road. Great video. Thanks for Sharing.
