Thing is, he shouldn't sell it. As people get older Mario only writes itself bigger into culture, and it'll only be worth more. Mario started in the 80s, it's the 2010s when this was probably shown on the show, and it was worth 300k then. In 20 more years when every generation that's been influenced by mario since are adults with money? Easily a multimillion dollar item. At 1mill now it's far too much of their liquid money to give up into an investment now that they'll have to wait for a decade or two for the investment to pay off but it will be worth an insane amount in the future. It's 2022 and Mario is still just as popular as he was 20 years ago.

I think a lot of people who go there don't realize how pawn shops work. You bring in your item when you are in a pinch for cash and need money asap. You are lucky to get between 40%-66%. If you're not in a rush to sell it then there are many other options. Sell it yourself, list it in a auction, put it on consignment, save it. Or do whatever makes your heart content. Lol.

I think these customers need to understand collectables are subjective. A game or toy can be appraised at a ridiculous amount. However half the trick is getting someone to buy it. Most people think it’s cool to look at but ultimately pass. :)

You think people come in the shop with an item, Rick calls up an expert and they leave their own shop to run over to help Rick make money? C’mon man, this is the history channel. These items are handpicked, customers are actors, experts are likely on set all day as they knock out items for serval episodes at a time. There’s a script the guys have followed from season 1 episode 1.
