The interesting part is that we have kept our goals on a print out in a binder all these years and looking back on them, it’s amazing what we’ve been able to accomplish! We paid our house off early and have been able to cash flow all our kids higher education including 2 masters degrees. We are debt free and if we can’t pay cash, we don’t buy it!! Hang in there....it’s a drudge right now but you will not regret paying off your house early!!

Maybe talk about how to plan for college/trade school from the highschool age and how to build a safety net if college doesn't work out. P.S. I appreciate that you are open to trade school as well! I've noticed that with college educated parents, there's usually the expectation for kids to follow in those footsteps which usually can cause a lot of unneeded stress ❤️

I had a house I bought outright with money I came into in 2011. September 2019, I decided to buy my grandma's house from my mom, which she inherited. So, I went from no mortgage to a mortgage. It drives me nuts paying it every month. The loan is a land contract with no interest, so I get no benefit paying it off early - other than not paying that every month. Originally, with the "family" discount she gave me on the house, I would have it paid it off in 7 years. But now, I am like let's get this down to three. My point being - it's fantastic not paying a mortgage and you will love it when you get to that point. To anyone reading this wondering why I sold the other house that I had paid off - it was a martial home and with a divorce I had bad memories there and I always loved my grandma's house.

I highly recommend paying off your house early. My husband feels that when payments are mainly in the principal say 60-70% principal to 40-30% interest at a low rate, it probably makes sense to let that ride until the end. Financially he is right. However, emotionally I like having that payment off my back every month. Kind of a sense of freedom and less stressful . So I guess the best answer is, what is your focus. Overall financial picture or getting rid of debt. As for mattresses, I would LOVE a video on how to find a good affordable mattress. There are all kinds out there now, so what is the best for the money? Certainly I agree, mattresses and good sheets are an important investment! So, if you learn something on your journey, please share😊

I sold Mattresses for 4 years. If you have dipping or sagging in your current matt it may be in your box. If you put a new matt on that box then the same sagging will happen in your new matt. Box Springs are not the pricey part of the set. Also, prices of a higher end set can be up to 5,000. I am telling you so you don't get sticker shock. Also, use the trial period. If you get a 30 days trial, use 29 before you make your final decision.

I purchased land when I was just 21 when it settled. I always pay weekly as you get an extra repayment per year. I always paid extra as it gave me a buffer if something went wrong. For example I had paid 10 grand extra ( accumulated over a period of time with extra $50 a week), so when I lost my job I was able to stop paying and have the repayments come off the extra payments until I found another job. My loan (in Australia) I can also withdraw extra payments if we need it. I’m now 35 and my mortgage payment is small compared with other family members just getting into the market. We are in a position where we can live off one wage ( so blessed that our mortgage is small to do this), when my children are all in school and I’m back at work, we plan on buying our forever home. We will be in a position where we can keep our current home and have it as income for retirement.

We have been focusing on paying down the remainder of our mortgage for this past year. We pay weekly so I double up our payments each week. I am in Canada so for our bank we are only allowed to pay up to 10% one time a year directly on to the principal but can can make double up payments each mortgage payment throughout the year. For the extra mortgage payment we still have to pay interest but it is about 1/2 the regular amount so overall we are getting a awesome interest rate. If everything goes to plan, it will be paid off in approximately 2 years, then we will sell and downsize mortgage free with a good amount for investing. Thank you for your videos!

Also, love the hot tub idea...you could always get the doors, patio and porch/pergola part done and then save for the hot tub (just because I’m imagining there being part of the year where you wouldn’t want to pour concrete and replace doors where you live. They’re very firm so if that’s not your preference it may not work, but the quality has been great and the price is pretty low once you start comparing to those 2-3k ones

Mattress shopping is the worst, ranks up there with car shopping... 😬. We actually downsized to a full size from a queen because we already had it on another room and was an extra at the time.

Christine, I enjoyed this new channel and video. About the mattress, my husband taught me about getting even wear out of a mattress. He marked the mattress in the center of the top and and bottom 1, 2, 3, 4. Every 3 months the next number would be at the head of the 🛏️. Even wear. In today's world, I can't do that with my Bob's Discount furniture store foam/gel mechanical bed $3500.O0 4.6 years ago. My advice to you, buy the best bed you can afford it's worth it.

You make an amazing amount of money as a couple. You must feel so proud❤️, well done on crushing it!!! 🥰 To be able to pay out mortgage and save nearby 10k a month before bills and expenses is just mind blowing!! If I could manage 1/10 of this I’d be grateful! Fab video thanks for sharing xx

We were able to refi our 30yr mortgage to 3.125. We spend about 30k per year on daycare for our 2 kids so once they’re in school, we will have that to out towards our house! Pro- pay off the house early for peace of mind...though at 3.5% I recognize my investments make way more than that...

I really like that Goals 2021 Spread sheet. I like the line where it shows what month you spend the money. ~Audrey

Absolutely pro paying of the house early. I don't know if it's the same for you but my mortgage only allows overpayments each year of up to 10% of the original loan amount, otherwise you'll incur penalties. My home is a shared ownership property so my mortgage isn't huge, hopefully will have this paid off when I'm 35 and will only need to keep paying the rent on the shared ownership portion. Then I can start saving money I would've spent on my mortgage to (hopefully!) retire a bit early

Check to see if financial aid will change if you have less cash in the bank. If it is then put the cash into the house and apply for financial aid.

I like the look of the new payment doc. Now (monthly interest and principal) is way better than guessing the median interest. Saving on interest and can sleep earlier with no debt - I will pay of my futher home early. Pro house payoff early!

Early mortgage pay off is on my financial goals list as well. I’m definitely “pro” on this.

Yay! How exciting, Christine! I paid off my mortgage back in Nov of 2019 :) Oh and so glad to see you're using fancier trackers now LOL I'm an Excel geek, so know the power good utilization can produce. Good luck!

Congrats on the new channel Christine!! I'm pro payoff all the way. You guys are still way young enough to contribute to retirement accounts. Having the extra cash and also the business side of investing are also a smart idea. Try and fly solo on that one if you can. It will be worth the wait, especially during this crazy time with our world events~ I'm old enough to say you're absolutely right with history repeating itself! Fast forward your life in 20 years where I'm at and things will look different with life's twists and turns. But you and Dave seem to have good heads on your shoulders and I think can accomplish great family goals❣Happy New Year to all 🎉 Joan

We got a hot tub about 5 years ago. It was around $6300 for the tub, delivery and install. Plus $160 for the electric hook up and a new breaker. Also you will then need to start budgeting for pool chemicals.

Love this! You inspired me (on the other channel) to do a frugal year this year with my fiancé in order to save up for building our house! I’ve incorporated a lot of the spreadsheets and tips you’ve given! Thank youuu!

My big goal is once my kiddos are old enough not to be in daycare, use those funds to payoff our mortgage. My childcare cost almost as much as my mortgage. But before that paying off my student loan. Those are my 2 big debts. No credit card, and just 1 auto loan.

I just went into contract to buy my first starter home that will one day be a rental. I'll be closing at the beginning of next month. I'm already in payoff mode. It'll be a balance keeping savings for improvements/repairs along with my emergency fund and not just throwing it all at the principal.

I'll tell ya, as a renter, the housing market bites! The cheaper places are gone in a flash. The more expensive places are within our budget if we don't want to save any money. Low income places are in short supply. 2yr waiting list for 1 bedroom!!! It's insane!!
