Ingredients
Banana - 3 nos
Jaggery - 1cube
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Cardamom - 9 to 10 nos(1tspn cardamom powder)
Ghee - 2 or 3 tbsp
Coconut milk-1/4cup
Method
Heat water in a pan
Add jaggery and boil them well.
Take a bowl, add grated coconut and a small amount of water.
Squeeze and drain them well and set them aside.
When the jaggery has completely melted, remove from the heat and set aside.
Then crush cardamom into a fine powder and set aside.
Then strain the jaggery syrup to remove dirt if any.
Then peel the banana .

Heat ghee in a pan
Add chopped banana and fried them well.
When the bananas turn golden brown
Drain and set aside.
Heat ghee in a pan or use a banana frying pan .
Add grated coconut and roast them well.
Then add the strained jaggery syrup and mix well.
Then boil for a few more minutes.
Add crushed cardamom powder and stir them well.
Then add shallow fried banana slices and mix them well.
Cook till the gravy thickens.
Finally, add thick coconut milk
Saute till it becomes dry.
Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
Serve and enjoy the tasty pazhum nurukku
Pazham Nurukku is one of the traditional dish that is usually consumed as breakfast on thiruvonam day. An easy to make dish, yet healthy option. Made with kerala nenthran banana aka ethappazham, this dish will be perfect with the jaggery syrup added to it. The dollop of ghee added will give an extraordinary taste to it. A perfect choice for evening snacks or even for kids snacks box. A pinch of cardamom powder added will give a unique traditional taste to this pazham Nurukku.
Some people won't add grated coconut to it while some others add thick coconut milk too at the end to make it more rich. Serving the healthy and hot pazham Nurukku on a banana leaf aka plantain leaf aka vazhayila will make your day for sure
