PCA Club Racing had its first race in 1992, spurred at the insistence of Potomac Region’s Alan Friedman, who felt PCA could expand its driving programs to satisfy members with vast track experience ready to move up the ladder. Twenty-five years later, the racing program added a new class catering to vintage racers.
We commemorated the occasion - and PCA Club Racing's 25th anniversary - by visiting Summit Point Motorsports Park to observe vintage air-cooled Porsches competing in the new class for the first time, and to gauge how PCA’s club racing culture has evolved over the years. In the video above, we speak with Friedman and several other drivers, some who’ve raced with PCA since the beginning and others who are new this year.
Of course, be sure to read Ted West’s “Silver Jubilation” in the December 2016 Porsche Panorama for the full, in-depth story.
