I'll tell you straight up, I have a half eagle that is exactly like yours: PCGS CAC 1899.... but its an 1899-S. I'm keeping it the way it is because of the error, but in your case you should get it re -holdered just because of the dates rarity. Lord forbid if you have to sell it, and whoever buys it isn't honest, then they could sell it for the 1877-P and cause some turmoil. If it was a more common date I would say leave it, but in this case you should send it back.

Time to put AI in coin grading. It may even speed up the grading system. There was one KZitemr who was mad at PCGS when he sent his silver coin to be graded and yes he did get a strait problem free grade. The problem was that it looked like someone spilled water on his coin and allowed it to dry on it. He had pictures prior to sending and there were no marks. As long the human factor is there in the grading system, not only errors can be done but even damage and they would deny it.

I went to sell a Morgan just a month ago. It was an 82-S MS66. Or so I thought. I put it under my microscope to take some closeups and I see it. There's an '83-CC in the holder. Needless to say, I was surprised. I called PCGS, and they must have checked my inventory, but they knew, which I did not, that it was switched, AND I OWNED the other one! I also have the '83-CC MS65 Holder with an '82-S in it. I don't even know which coin is supposed to have what grade. Simply amazing. I changed my mind and told PCGS I'm keeping them the way they are. I haven't heard back yet.

The 1914-D $2.50: EDIT: Video answered 1st question and created another. You show a MS61 grade on this, but state they labeled it cleaned. Do they not stop the grading process if cleaned or do they grade, but note the cleaning? Again, if it still has great details, but gets labeled cleaned, does that automatically eliminate the graded value or would serious collectors still buy it at a discount? Basically, is there a scale to determine cleaned coin value based on level it was cleaned?
