Diet in PCOS:
Pcos is not a life threatening condition, but it is associated with lot of problems like
Menstrual irregularities and acne in adolescent girls
Fertility issues in women of reproductive age
Metabolic problems like Diabetes, Hypertension and Metabolic syndrome after the age of 40
Life style modification , change in Diet and Physical activity is very important first step which helps in reversing symptoms of PCOS
Foods to include:
1. High fibre diet
2. Pulses
3.Fruits
4. Whole grains
5. Nuts
6. Lean protein
Foods to avoid:
1. Starchy vegetables
2. Junk food like deep fried foods like pakoras, fritters
3.Sugary foods such as sweets( Jamun, laddoo) etc..
4. Processed foods
5. Red meat
6. Food made from Maida, and all Bakery products.
Tips:
1. Chew your food well.
2. Don't do mindless eating
3. Drink plenty of water atleast 8-10 glasses
4. Physical activity is a must
Aerobic activity atleast 1/2 hour daily
Strength training atleast 2-3 times in a week( Building muscle helps in losing weight)
Yoga atleast once or twice a week
Have some relaxation technique to destress yourself!!
Sleep is very important- regulates melatonin secretion.. helps in weight reduction😀
