I have always had PCOS, basically since I was 15 (first period 12.5yo, now 33). The only solution the doctors gave me was the birth control pill, that I took for many years in a row. One also suggested me a pregnacy to rebalance my hormones lol. Then I decided to take a break and coincidentally to a bad break up I decided to do IF and then keto. 90lbs down, tons of muscles, best shape of my entire life. Went from a XXL to a M-L in the span of three years. It has been a long journey and I had a lot of bumps and plateau because I was also educating myself on my own and had to correct the things I was doing month by month. It was frustrating. I was alone for a long time, then I found out Dr. Berry and Dr. Berg. Best doctors of my entire life and they don't even know I exist and that they have saved me.

I did get pregnant 3 times, but miscarried by 9 weeks. I ended up going to a weight loss center, dedicated to Keto-style as well as low calorie, lost 40 lbs, many symptoms of PCOS decreased dramatically, AND, I conceived my son naturally! It kind of makes one curious as to why the checkout aisles are loaded with corn syrup, refined sugar and other carbs like softdrinks and chips. The connection between ill health, obesity and diabetes has been known for a very, very long time. Yet we are supposed to believe that these government officials, heads of industry and health officials actually care about us and that is why they destroyed our businesses and economy over a common virus with a miniscule death rate. Now they want us to take their "cure" which is actually killing some people and making others quite ill. It's time to wake up, people.

For the love of God, don't get on birth control for ANY period related complaint without looking at your diet first. I dealt with extreme nausea that just worsened for nearly a decade during ovulation and my period. It wasn't always consistent, but it was there. Looking back, I'm nearly positive that I was/am insulin resistant and chronically stressed the entire time. I went on birth control for about a year out of desperation, and I can honestly say that was one of the worst experiences of my life, and it didn't even help that much. I quit birth control sooner than I planned because it was creating such awful depression and it broke my husband's heart to see me that way. I'm currently pregnant with our first, but as soon as this kiddo is out, I'm definitely going to monitor my carbs, because I *need* this insulin resistance gone. And for the record, I'm low on the carbs now because there's suspicion I have gestational diabetes because of how big this baby is, but my midwife has told me twice that I'm not after reviewing my glucose logs. It's just that I may be induced this week or next week, so I'm just doing what I can to not go crazy.

Hi Dr. Ken Berry! I’ve been following the Carnivore diet for nearly three months now, and I’m feeling amazing! After years of being on and off vegan, I ended up with hormonal imbalances, leading to PCOS and other health issues. Could you share if Maca Root, iodine, and Myo-inositol are safe to take while on a Carnivore diet? I’m very satisfied with this way of eating and plan to continue long-term, but I’ll be consulting a specialist soon to see what they recommend as well. Thank you, Dr. Ken Berry, for sharing your knowledge and spreading the truth! Your videos have been such a blessing to me! ❤

I have been diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago(normal weight, so doctors told me I couldn't have insulin resistance) and was told to either go back on hormonal birth control, or live with the symptoms. When I first saw this video (and others, f.e. from Jamie Seeman, Dr. Kiltz) I almost couldn't believe it. I started reading the comment sections and promised myself that if it worked I would come back and try to inspire others. Here I am... 1 year ago I started a carnivore diet. After 2 months I had my first period of that year, and haven't missed one since...I no longer have PCOS!! I want to tell you, PLEASE give it a go. If carnivore is not for you, then try a very low carb-keto diet you do enjoy. It will be worth it, you will get your health back. Good luck! And big thanks to you, Dr. Berry, there is a good reason your following keeps growing. You've given many people the information to turn their health around!

@@ceciliamendoza71 Hello! I'm not on the diet anymore, I've dont it for 9 months and wanted to add in some more foods. I am eating around 75% of my calories from meat, and everything else is mostly fruit, vegetables and some starches. However, I won't hesitate to go back to carnivore if my health needs me to!

I'm so thankful you made this video! I've been struggling with insulin resistance and what I assume is PCOS, as I have some of the symptoms including facial hair and hairline loss and even had sis that need to be removed by surgery. I've also developed hypoglycemia within this past year and have been trying to figure that out. I found out keto is best for hypoglycemia as well so hearing that sticking to a low carb diet will help with my PCOS too makes me feel like there's hope. Thank you again! God bless you 🙏🏼

I totally agree with the low carb diet, especially processed foods. But a whole food plant-based diet, utilizing low, glycemic, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, is the best & healthiest way to go. Stay away from all processed foods, particularly those with sugar. Not medical advice, yet it’s found in medical journals from tests with no bias (those conducted by those who profit by them).

I wish it was that easy. I've been meat heavy keto/ketovore for almost 4 years now. I basically eat zero-20 total carbs per day. I'm definitely healthier and never going back to the SAD. But my PCOS isn't really any better. I still feel like I'm turning into a middle aged man with a potbelly, balding and a excess facial hair. 😭 I found out I'm T2D and now entering perimenopause. I feel doomed to this syndrome and it's side effects forever. 😢

Not a doctor but maybe you are going too low on the carbs. During a certain time of you cycle you body needs glutathione especially from low carb fruits to make the necessary hormones to have a healthy period. Many women doing doing keto and not carnivore noticed that they needed more squash, a carrot or strawberries to ensure that they don't lose a period. You would up the carbs with healthy foods only a few days a month. Check out Castaway Kitchen hormones and keto diet for women for more info. Dr. Mindy Pelz is also a good reference but she targets perimenopausal women more.

My wife had to have a large cist removed a few years ago (she was 58, in menopause). Also the ovary. I have shown her some of your other videos about PCOS and diabetes. She refuses to change. She thinks Dr. Michael Gregor and Dr. John Mcdougall the vegans know what's best. How sad. She does eat lots of vegetables, but alot of them include sweet potatoes, potatoes, rice, lots of various grains etc. You should do some videos debunking these two guys. Also, she is very heavy. I am 99% sure she is at least prediabetic. Also, I understand all your videos easily and have tried to explain this to her. I have a chemistry/biology background Thanks, Don

I’ve dealt with pcos for 15 years and went vegan and even raw vegan…. And it messed my pcos up even worse. I was sad because I don’t want to eat animals but unfortunately our bodies are not that far evolved from our ancestors and it’s just the way this realm works for now. No carb is best for pcos.

First, I want to thank you for this useful video. Many docs are so illiterate on this topic. My question is: How come my mom and grandma had no pcos and I have it!? I believe that stress in childhood leads to high cortisol and eating too much carb creates the condition, so you don’t necessarily inherit it

3 days ago, I went to the ER because of just the overall feeling of anxiety and constantly being uncomfortable, gaining 50 pounds in a year, and I had not eat or drank anything besides water for about 15 hours when they took my blood. My glucose level was 112. I didn't know this was a "fasting glucose level" at the time, or I would have told the doctor I hadnt eat or drank anything but water, but since I didnt know the doctor didnt even mention it to me and told me my bloodwork looked great...but I was 2 points over the maximum for a nonfasting level. So that very day, they let me out after acknowledging there is a "string of pearl" cysts and a dermoid cyst on my overies. I googled PCOS and saw here that I should not eat any carbs or sugar that I should eat all the things ive been told all my life i should NOT eat if i want to be thin and maintain that healthy weight. I fell asleep at 12am after eating 2 cups of pure turkey meat (no sugar no carbs) and ate at 3pm the next day, so a 15 hour fast. So at 3, I ate 4 eggs, 4 small pieces of cheese, and 7 pieces of asparagus. None of that had any carbs or sugar. My father unfortunately has type 2 diabetes, and I asked if I could use his blood glucose monitor to check my level. It was 95 nonfasting. That's how quickly my glucose levels went back to normal. I've been drinking black tea with Stevia, the artificial plant sweetener (it also has no sugar or carbs either). I was shocked. 95 is a perfect glucose level, while 112 fasting glucose levels are considered "prediabetes." My BMI is 24.1. To be in the overweight category it has to be 24.9 for my height and age. I'm not overweight, but all my fat is visceral fat. I used to be a perfect hourglass but now I'm shaped like an apple. I gained 50 pounds this past year all the while dieting as hard as possible. And I realized when I did eat, I ate stuff like white rice, pretzels, popcorn, yogurt, ate a bunch of fruit and yogurt smoothies, etc. I don't think I've had meat in 4 months...can't remember it if I did. And I stayed away from foods with fat in them because I thought that's how you diet you simply create a caloric deficiency and you will lose weight eating low calorie foods. Not in my case. I remained the exact same weight. Once I went 2 weeks and didn't eat anything. I lost 5 pounds. I allowed myself 500 calories a day and gained it back within 3 days. Had I know that creating a caloric deficiency would not help me lose weight until I was eating the right high protein high fat foods...I'd be back to my normal weight by now. Thanks for breaking this down for me better than the several different doctors I saw in the ER. One was even a gynecologist and didn't explain anything like that to me. This is great news! Thank you so much.

Hello Dr. Berry. I'm a Tennessee gal, and thanks to you, I have lost 22 pounds on Keto. I've been doing Keto since the latter part of January of this year. I am still experiencing embarrassing facial hair and was wondering if it has been long enough to see improvement in that area or should I still consult with my OB-GYN about further medications. Thank you so much for your wonderful and truthful health videos!

This is what my gynecologist explained, and her daughter has PCOS: The facial hair will not go away on its own even if you get the PCOS under control. The hair follicles have already been stimulated and created to grow that hair, and you must go get laser treatment or electrolysis to get rid of it. But if your PCOS and insulin are still out of control, and you have hair removal, guess what? the body will just stimulate more facial hair follicles! So you have to get your hormonal situation fixed, then have permanent hair removal, and then you can enjoy smooth hairfree skin.

Thank you for posting this Dr. Berry. I was dx with hyperprolactinemia with a micropituitary tumor and PCOS this year. I'm going to go back on Keto, maybe I wasn't doing it right and that's why I didn't lose weight. My endocrinologist tested for insulin and cortisol. Insulin was normal, cortisol not so much. She's now leaning toward Cushing's disease. Any tips for shrinking brain tumor and reducing prolactin and reducing Cortisol? I am trying to reduce my stress but that's hard as a speech therapist.
