Oh my! Such enormous satirical genius here, and yet I'm left feeling so bereft! My prayer is that our precious Israel will soon experience gladness and light, just as on Purim "the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a good day." וְהַחֹדֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר נֶהְפַּךְ לָהֶם מִיָּגוֹן לְשִׂמְחָה, וּמֵאֵבֶל לְיוֹם טוֹב

@pugtm @pugtm Chag Boorim is of course Chag Purim, lyrics by Levin Kipnis. Also one of the nigunim, the 2nd one, is the melody that many in Israel use for Shoshanat Ya'akov. hope that helps

Actually, modern Zionism started in synagogues. Well before Herzel, Rabbi Yehuda Alkalay already wrote about the restoration of the Jewish State through secular movements, but it would end up going religious (lately there have been a rising in number of religious Jews in Israel) and finally bringing the Messiah. But it was a small movement until the secular groups carried it to its current proportions.

The Big Bang point is most intriguing. The entire universe was stuffed into a singularity. There was no time nor space nor matter, and it was smaller than a mustard seed. Hmm. If there was no time, how did time itself come into existence? Did Father Time kind of self-generate out of nothing! How can apemen be so smart and lack basic explanations of the obvious?

@MrPatbradley22 The actual implementation of sharing a united city amongst two nation states of course would have been a logistical nightmare. That did not stop both Barak and Olmert from trying to do it. When Al Jazeera actually released the details of the secret negotiations last year, Abbas and Erakat could not find a rock fast enough to hide behind to avoid an assassins bullet.

@pugtm They are parodies of actual songs sung on Purim, the Feast of Lots, from the Book of Esther. The songs are modern about an event that took place in Persia (Iran) about 2400 years ago recorded eternally in the Book of Esther.

This is not America's fault by any means, but American Jews need deep spiritual and mental health professionals to overcome this hatred and willful ambivalence toward G-d. America was founded as a covenantal people with G-d, a covenant of common decency for its full-fledged citizens, excluding Indians and blacks of course. Most American Jews who rejected G-d in Europe and became citizens never signed the dotted line of that covenant.

Are you talking about secular and leftist American Jews hating Israel or hating America? I think that they just hate G-d or don't forgive him for all the pain that their ancestors suffered in Christian Europe. The emotional damage is deep and almost irreparable. In the coming Redemption, G-d will have to address this deep and profound mental illness that most Ashkenazim suffer from both in America and in Israel. The American experience has simply allowed for this to fester, without healing

@MrPatbradley22 Ronit is the news hostess in the full version of all Latma news broadcast parodies. It is obvious you are not a Latma fan. Most pigs aren't. People have come and left the Holy Land for the last 2000 years. lots of empires, lots of Bedouin tribes regularly came in and out from what is now known as Jordan into the Holy Land. Several Crusades had temporary beachheads in the Holy Land, but as late as 1867 Mark Twain said that the road between Jaffa an J-lem was a desert.

@dovbearbarleib so international law applies to everyone except israel? "The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies." please interpret this for me in a way in which the settlements are not illegal. and fun fact ariel sharon even called it an occupation.

@MrPatbradley22 can retroactively go back and reverse an independent nation state's (Jordan's) relinquishing of sovereignty on a particular patch of line. Quote the chapter and verse of the Geneva Convention that says that a country that conquers territory that belonged to no nation cannot colonize its citizens on land that it lived on 2000 years ago!! This is where Ronit takes off her other shoe and hits you in the head again.

@MrPatbradley22 The only Palestine in the last 2000 yearswas a part of the Byzantine Empire. It was inhabited by Roman Catholics starting in the 4th century until the 7th century. Period. There has not been one country or province of any Muslim Empire since the 7th century named Palestine, from the Arab Conquest until the Ottoman Turks. So the Geneva Convention does not apply. This is where Ronit takes off her shoe and hits you in the head.

@MrPatbradley22 It was divided between Israel and the Jordanians who relinquished all claims of sovereignty over any lands west of the Jordan River in the mid 1990s. So the entire "West Bank" of TransJordan is legally no-man's land retroactively for the 19 years between 1948 and 1967 since no country existed in that area for 19 years. God judging countries who transgress is present today in mainstream Christianity and some parts of Judaism. You make it sound like such thinking is advocating that people go and punish every nation that does wrong... There was nothing "backward" with the comment you responded to. I don't know how you think that comment creates more darkness then the dark ages where people killed each other for religion...
