I used to have this bag but sold it mainly because the straps were so uncomfortable under heavier loads. Also I found the access to the laptop compartment a bit cramped, and wasn't too fussed about how rigid the bag felt overall. However, the origami organisation in the main compartment is AMAZING: you can protect your stuff from getting crushed e.g. if you have food items you can dedicate a shelf to them, or if you have delicate tech you can protect it. Also it's nice having a top shelf to keep certain things near the top. I never used it as a camera backpack but it excels as a travel backpack. Was a tough decision to sell it, but comfort is king....

I have the same 2 cons with my PD Everyday Bag. What did you switch to?

@@pedroguzmanI’ve tried a few since then, but essentially it’s now a toss up between Evergoods and Goruck. Goruck wins on shoulder comfort but the organisation and layout of the CPL24 is pretty hard to beat.

peak design makes great gear, so much so that I wish they had a less camera centric line of backpacks for EDC. the ones they have are clearly meant for cameras and things of that nature....

I have an everyday bag and use it entirely for work and tech EDC. No camera gear added to my carry yet. Works great

I have the “30 liter” version of this bag and use it for commuting to work. No camera gear, but I do bring a 16” laptop and 11” tablet. The origami dividers definitely help, but sometimes I miss being able to throw a randomly large item into it without having to reposition the dividers. I agree that the tech area is cramped and I have to pinch my tablet VERY hard with my fingers to get it out when the laptop is also in there. Additionally, this bag is terrible for travel because the surfaces are so stiff, and the front tapers to a narrower panel. It’s very difficult to get a proper large packing cube in there and you can’t fit size 12 shoes cross-ways, which necessitates putting them long-ways. This in turn forces you to take all the dividers out. It’s not a use-case they have planned for, so I won’t be trying to do that again. The capacity says 30L but that is waaay optimistic given the challenges with using the available space. It’s no better than using my 20L Aer Go 2 for travel! That said, I still do enjoy it for EDC and I love the way it looks and feels. It’s a premium bag.

Just bought this for a 2 week cruise British Isles. Take my R5 with 24-105 on and 16-35. Top portion will have personal items and 11 inch iPad Pro in the sleeve along with an 11 inch ereader. Will be my underwear bag on plane.

I love PD stuff, but I've always wondered why their backpacks and pouches were so expensive. This 20L bag costs nearly 400 maple syrup loonies, the 30L pretty much sits exactly at 400. Even decent camera bags which I've always found to be more expensive than regular bags, generally don't reach anywhere near the cost of this little bag does. Thanks to this video, I'm starting to see why it costs so much. There's a lot of ingenuity and engineering going on with this bag, and things like the zipper locks or the included key keeper integrated with their anchor system are quite well thought out. A lot of it feels like redesigning the wheel like that sternum strap(to be fair, I love it), or unnecessarily overdesigned like the top magnetic latch, but if you're a fan of that stuff then that's perfect, this seems like a very high quality and innovative bag. As for the zippers, PD has tweeted in the past that they use Zoom zippers. Zoom is a Chinese zipper company, and doesn't seem to be as popular as the other mainstream Chinese zipper brand SBS. Depends on the person buying it on whether they see YKK as a sign of quality/a lack of it as skimping quality or not. I'm sure there are examples of decent SBS/Zoom zippers and similarly examples of failing YKK zippers. And from a quick search I saw a few people having issues with the Zoom zippers failing on their PD bags, but that PD is also quick to replace the bag without many questions. What I find weird is that they're happy to talk about how their bags are all 400D nylon canvas, but never advertise the Zoom zipper on their bags outside of a tweet - even on the zipper version of this backpack. Zipper quality is usually something that people looking in the range of 400 igloo-bucks care about. Anyways, this bag uses Zoom zippers on the main compartments but apparently does use some YKK on the inside. (If you're further curious about why PD uses Zoom zippers, Packhacker reached out to them in their 45L Travel bag review and got an official response.) I'm definitely not in the market for a bag like this especially with that pricepoint, but I can appreciate some very cool engineering.

Can you fit a medium packing tube in that? Looking to buy 20l, 30 is a little big for me, but I want to use it as a personal item on the plan for 3-5 days, and I go light. Just need someone to tell me can I fit one medium or two small cubes in this… :)
