MOSCAR ESTATE CAMPSITE CRUELTY
On a recent visit to the Peak District some walkers were shocked to find this crow stuck in a ladder trap on the Moscar Estate. With grouse shooting season hours away, this trap illustrates the extent of the cruelty involved in raising large numbers of birds to blast them from the sky.
The Moscar Estate's owner, the Duke of Rutland, also owns the Belvoir Hunt and the Haddon Estate.
The Moscar Estate are known to be prolific wildlife killers, multiple horrific incidents of badger snaring have been captured by HIT. Underkeeper Max Hickling has also been in trouble with the RSPB for injuring a corvid through poor wing clipping to keep them in cages.
Not content with trapping badgers the Moscar Estate use ladder traps to catch birds of prey and corvids in order to preserve the number of grouse on the moor for them to shoot. Earlier this year a crow was caught in a clam trap on the estate and later died from their injuries.
This endless slaughter of wildlife destroys the moorland every year, often happening within metres of popular walking routes.
This trap was found on Moscar Cross Campsite, owned by John and Barbara White. The crow was seen visibly distressed and trying to escape whilst campers slept nearby unaware. Thankfully this crow is now free and was saved from certain death and further torment.
Please boycott Moscar Cross Camping and let them know what you think of their cruel pastime.
