A first for me... this request came from a sweet friend to make a Wedding Journal for her daughter.
I was challenged in so many ways, to steer away from the design concepts which are so familiar: contrast, distressing, etc. I did however manage to create this very elegant, feminine and soft look by layering beige and other neutral and pastel colors.
There is also a lot of texture in this book, which I incorporated with lace page edges, dangling pearls on paperclips, and some rhinestones which I applied in some places. The embossed bellybands and pockets also adds to the depth, texture and richness of this journal, without taking away from the softness.
I could not resist to bring in a bit of color and interest, by adding floral stickers and the beautiful roses journalling cards.
This journal has a soft fabric cover, with lace edges and wedding gown trim stitched onto the front. The metal embellishment on the front was something I found in my stash, and was perfect to finish off this cover.
For the closure, I had the perfect color satin seam binding, but because the raw edges were exposed and just didn't look right, I had to sew two pieces together, which created a very nice polished look for this closure.
I finished off the string which I bound the signatures with, by adding some beads, charms and a tassel.
This journal offers a lot of writing space and spots to tuck in notes or even photos.
I really enjoyed this challenge and love how it turned out. Just goes to show, shades of the same colors can still be interesting and beautiful.
I hope you enjoy this flip-through and feel inspired.
