since no one has said anything, I will point out the flaw you did when holding the stethoscope. when putting bell/diaphragm on patient, never put fingers on top of it, only hold it by the drum (middle part using two fingers). I have been told to do it this way, so you don't hear your own heartbeat when listening. other than that, thank you for the video.

She mentioned that we shouldn't hold it with the thumb. Usually our thumbs have a very strong pulse and we don't use it because we might hear our own heartbeat. I think the way she did it - is absolutely okay, but I would still hold it the way you mentioned because it is more comfortable

I love this video! I have taught CNA skills and I did the exact same thing. "Put your finger there and say HHUHH even if you don't feel it" so that students don't waste time looking for it. It takes experience to find that brachial artery. It freaks students out on test day if they can't find it.

Hi, Lisbeth! To some point, it's true! First, blood pressure is not a Prometric testable skill! As far as your oral care skills and feeding, Prometric has made some modifications with the feeding skill. The oral care skills have been put on hold for the time being, but this could change without ample notice. So...still practice all testable skills!!!

Thank you for making such a WONDERFUL video. I am especially grateful for the tip on finding the brachial artery. Do you have any advice about how to remember the bp reading? I'm afraid that I'll be so nervous on test day that I'll forget what it is after doing closing procedures.
@NURSEJAR
5 жыл бұрын
If you forget the reading before recording it, there three things that you may do. One, constantly repeat the measurement in your head. Two, perform the closing procedures after you record the measurement. Three, go back and look at the blood pressure gauge again. A lot of times, visually seeing the gauge before recording will jog your memory. Four, let the NAE know that you forgot the measurement and ask if you can remeasure the person's BP. Hope this was helpful!

@@miraclejones4638 sorry for the late response, i don't appear to get notifications to my comments! i hope it's not too late but if you still haven't taken the exam, all i did for studying was watch nurse jar's videos that matched the titles from the credentia booklet they gave us in CNA school and that's pretty much it. I found the written portion fairly easy, but in my opinion was not similar to all the practice questions you see online. I would say the written portion was slightly more difficult than expected but still doable. as for the practical portion, it was A LOT easier than i expected and the proctors who were grading us on the skills seem to be very lenient. maybe it depends on the type of person you get who knows. they had us partner up with one other person so there were about 3 or 4 groups of pairs in the same room testing so i found that kind of odd. but i really wouldn't stress about it if i were you and sending hopes that you pass!!

Julie thank u VM for this awesome video. I watched it like 3 times and I'm sure I'll watch a few more times before my Skills Testing on June 4. I had 1 question for u. At the end u out the BP cuff in the designated area and then u verbalize "washing my hands" and THEN record ur results. After recording the results u say (again?) Washing my hands "Skill Complete"? So essentially ur washing ur hands twice after obtaining the results? Thank u in advance...as I'm writing this down for myself! Have a great weekend as well! 😉👌🏽
@NURSEJAR
5 жыл бұрын
It's not necessary for you to verbalize "washing hands" AFTER you record. However, I train my students to do so in order for them to get on the habit of verbalizing this before stating "skill complete" for other skills that require you to do so. Intrain in this matter so it will become second nature. However, it is required for you to verbalize "washing hands " BEFORE you record.
