Paint markers are not a NEW invention. Ha ha. Acrylic and oil paint markers have been around for at least fifteen years! I like acrylic markers more because they're a lot less toxic. However, all paint markers are amazing.

Heyy! Can you use those markers on a ballistic nylon fabric? Also will the colors show if the fabric is black? If not, do you have ideas on what sort of colors to use on such fabric? Thanks in advance x

Nada Abdo Hi Nada, Yes, these Markers will show up on the black material. I suggest you try it; remembering this is an oil paint marker. For an acrylic solution, I suggest you use a white acrylic marker to create your design, possibly adding 2 coats by letting it dry between coats, then add color over the white with other acrylic markers. There are bunches of brands of acrylic markers available. My 2 favorites are the Pébéo and Posca brands.

The inside of the Pebeo brochure about these markers gives the continuous length that can be achieved by each marker size: 2mm tip - 685ft/209m, 4mm tip - 511ft/156m, 8mm - 593ft/181m, 15mm - 413ft/126m. I hope that helps! 🙂 Tristina

Thank you for inspiring tutorial :) Can I use them on porcelain? Will it last?
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist

Thanks for your message Malgorzata! The 4Artist Markers can be used on porcelain if you want to put a temporary design on them and wipe the design off with odorless mineral spirits or white spirit afterwards because they are not permanent on porcelain. The paint Pebeo has for making permanent designs on porcelain is called Porcelaine; a water based paint that you allow to dry on your porcelain piece and then bake in a household oven to make the paint permanent. You can find out more about the Porcelaine paints on the Pebeo.com website. 😍

so you can paint with oils right over these with no problem or sealing before hand?
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist

Yes Katie, you can paint over these marker paints with oil paints. Just note that the paint in the 4Artist markers are rewettable, so any solvents used with the oil paints will reactivate the marker paints. 😀

Hello i have an acrylic painting on canvas but i want to use these markers to add some detail Is it okay to use oil based markers over acrylic paint?
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist
9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! Just as you can use tube oil paint over acrylics, you can also use these oil paint markers over acrylics; plus they work great over resin as well. Bear in mind, if you want to add a final varnish coat to your work, I recommend that you try out Pebeo's 4-Artist water-based varnishes designed specifically to go over the 4-Artist markers. The reason for this is that Pebeo's special varnishes are thicker and "sticker" than a typical acrylic varnish and are designed to stick to the slick surface left by these markers. A regular acrylic varnish may bead up on the surface of the areas where the 4-Artist markers are used. Be very careful using a spray acrylic varnish over the 4-Artist markers, as these spray varnishes usually have a solvent in them that can rewet and ruin the work you did since the paint inside the markers is mineral-oil based and rewettable with mineral spirits even years later. I hope this information helps! 🙂 Tristina

Can u plx what should I do my dried 4markers
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist
3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. I have not had the problem of my 4Artist Markers drying out. I am wondering how you stored your markers? It is important to store them horizontally (that is, on their side) and not vertically with the tip up. If the tips of the markers are dried out, try removing them from the marker and soaking in odorless mineral spirits. This should loosen the paint in the nib since these paints are rewettable. Then, make sure to soak up the excess mineral spirits in paper toweling or a cloth, then reinsert in the body of the marker, shake well, and try again to get the paint to flow. Let me know how it goes! 🙂 Tristina

can you use them exterior work on aluminum?
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist
9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! Yes, these markers work beautifully on metal. Just bear in mind, do not spray the finished work with any kind of varnish as even a tiny amount of solvent in the sprays can reactivate the paint and ruin your work. Instead, if you want a more permanent finish, I suggest you try applying Pebeo's varnishes made especially for the 4Artist Markers. I usually apply 3 coats of the varnish myself. I hope this helps! 🙂 Tristina

Hi Joann, Thanks for your question! These paints have an EXCELLENT lightfastness rating and are artist quality. You can learn more by downloading the color chart and other documents by going to Pebeo's online technical manual here: technicalmanual.pebeo.net. Enjoy! 😃

Thanks for your comment Christopher! I thought exactly what you said in the beginning - limited color selection. But... once I figured out how beautifully these markers blend (use a little odorless mineral spirits or oil of petroleum) the entire color spectrum opened up for me. Now my most used 4Artist markers are the 8mm Red, Yellow, Dark Blue and White, from which I blend whatever color I want literally in seconds. Plus, you are spot on about the Silver; someone commented to me before the silver looks like liquid mercury -> so bright! I use the 15mm Silver the most for bold mark making and major drips & spatters. I appreciate your watching my videos and I hope this helps. 🎨😃💖

I hope i did a good buy, because expensive for me. I wanna use it on flat plastic, in the hope its easier then use paint with a brush. But it seems not water resistance as you said on 16:28 , or is it a bit ? Thanks for any reply. Cheers from Belgium
@TristinaDietzElmesArtist

Thank you for your comment. I have found these markers to be fully water resistant when dry. For instance, I used them outside on my mailbox to repaint the numbers (in black) and the paint has lasted for years through rain and sun without fading or erosion. I'm sure they will eventually, but I do like the staying power. Note that you should not try to seal what you have made with these markers with an type of varnish (including sprays) that contain solvents. Pebeo has a special 4Artist Markers varnish they created that is water-based that I have used when there is a need to seal my artwork in order to apply more layers in a mixed media approach. I hope this reply helps! 🙂 Tristina
