Very nice, I have a similar setup that will incorporate a bypass looper controlled by the pod to bring the drives in and out.

I'm in the process of adding the POD hd500x to my pedalboard. The question is: did you use velcro like you would with a regular pedal? Did the two protrusions on its back which run horizontally get in the way? Thanks
@BJamin4God

Omar Haggag yes I used Velcro. I actually put the Velcro on the two protrusions. Because the board was custom built I was able to make sure the rails lined up. I’m not sure how it would line up with a pedaltrain board, but I would imagine you could make it work.

Really nice setup! I recently just bought a HD500x for the versatility if offers versus having multiple pedals, considering I´m starting with the electric guitar now so I don´t have to invest a lot of money. Let me ask you something, I have a Gibson Les Paul and would like to know if you would change anything on those patches you uploaded last year?! Cause I´d appreciate having some good presets to start with. As I mentioned, I´m starting with the electric guitar recently (I´ve mainly been playing acoustic) Thank you! And really nice videos...

henriqueam Thanks man! When you go to customtone and download the patches make sure you download the ones that say LP, those are the ones I made for my Epiphone Les Paul 100. I have made a few changes to some of those patches since I created them, and I may upload the new ones when I'm completely done with them. One thing to remember is that anytime you download a preset its a great place to start, but might not be perfect for you, even if you loved the way it sounded on a video. Every guitar sounds a little different, everyone plays differently, and what people listen to their PODs through is different. My POD sounds a little different through my studio monitors than it does through my headphones, and even more different through my amp. Also your "tone" is personal. Everyone has a different ideal of a sound in their head that they want to accomplish. If you download my patches use them as a starting point, but then play with the eq on the amp model and amount of gain on the amp and the distortion pedal models and such and tailor the preset to your guitar, playing style, and preference. You might want to save the preset twice, keeping one the original to go back to and then another one that you tweak, that way if you get way lost you have a home base to go back too. Hope this helps, thanks again for the kind words, and good luck in your new electric guitar adventure! For Christ, Ben

Quick Question. I see you are using the Pedal 2 input. How do we use the Pedal 2 input on this POD HD500X?

You assign the second expression pedal to whatever function you want and then you set the parameters eg. 0-100 (full travel from heel to toe) or however much attenuation you want. No need to watch another video for info he could have answered as quickly as he spammed you.

I'm trying to figure out how to run my Digitech Sdrum pedal with my hd500x. Can anyone help me out? I have the pod running through the effects loop via the 4 cable method.

How did you turn on the mini expression pedal to change the amplifier gain? What regulation should I make in podhd?

Is it better to run into the Line 6 or run the pedals through the effects loop?
@BJamin4God

Both work, it just depends on where you want your external pedals placed in your chain. If you want your external fx placed after some of the effect blocks on the POD then you'll need to run them through the fx loop. If you want your external pedals before anything that you're doing on the POD I would run them into the POD. If you run drive pedals in the loop you'll need to play around the the send and return levels to make sure that you are sending the right amount of signal to them, otherwise they may break up more or less than you're used to depending on how much volume they're getting.

Hi Ben, I have a HD500 and want to add an external 2 pedals for booster and overdrive. Now, I want to use my Fender Mustang 3 V2 amp (Vox AC) instead of POD's amp. What will be my cable connections? Normally I am using my pod hd amp (XLR out to mixer) and from (POD) unbalance mono connected to my fender amp fx loop (Im using my fender amp as my monitor speaker) I want to get the advantage of my fender's amp..

Simon Kristoffer Are you saying you want to use a boost and overdrive pedal along with the PODHD for effects into your mustang amp? Will you be using the amp clean or will you be using it for drive? It sounds like the mustang has an FX loop, is this correct? Let me know and I can give you several different routing options.

BJamin4God yes you are correct, i will use those 2 pedals along with my pod. Also yes there is an fx loop on the mustang. I will use a clean sound out of my mustang. Clean settings of vox ac30

Simon Kristoffer the easiest way would be to go from your guitar into the boost and overdrive, then into the PODHD, then into the mustang. If you wanted to run the boost and overdrive between some of the effects on the POD you could run them in the POD's FX loop.

You aren’t even scratching the service using it plugged into the front of the amp. 4 CABLE METHOD IS THE WAY
@ethanlancaster76

Set your signal chain to run the volume, boost, OD, distortion in the front of the preamp and the modulation FX (delays, choruses after the preamp section via the 4 cable method. Also FYI surprisingly a Crybaby works better in the FX loop as well, or after your distortion (Hendrix) into the front of the amp. Take a few minutes to learn the 4 cable method and setting your signal chain on the Pod and it will change your whole life and satiate your quest for the ultimate tone. And you are going to get the best tone possible running two amp models of your liking at the same time ✌️

I do know about the 4 cable method. It’s great if you have an amp that you like and it has a good fx loop. My Blues Jr. doesn’t have an fx loop. When I was using the POD I was using it to go straight to the PA at my church, I wasn’t running it into an amp.
