I've had my Pedersoli M1861 Springfield now for about6 years now. The only complaint I had was the front sight, which doubles as a bayonet lug, was not true to the centreline of the barrel/ It's only silver soldered on, but I didn't have to tools, so I paid a gunsmith to correct this problem. Another issue w/ these reproduction guns, not just Pedersolis but all brands, Pedersoli, ArmiSport/ Chiappa, the now-defunct Euro arms, they all used 3 piece ramrods that are held together by compression fit. It works if all you use the rammer for is to seat the ball/bullet, but the forces generated down bore when using the rammer to clean the barrels can sometimes cause the rammer to come apart. I had mine welded, although for my Pedersoli Brown Bess I was able to find a machinist that produced a solid, one-piece ramrod like an original. These 3 piece rammers are a nod to cut manufacturing costs- just something the shooter needs to be aware of.

My 1861 has a one piece metal ram rod. Threaded on one end, cupped on the other.

@@silvermediastudio You may want to look again. It's sometimes difficult to tell, but you'll see a tiny, hair line about an inch below the swell.

I have a Pedersoli 1854 Lorenz and an Armi Sport 1861 Springfield, the Springfield didn’t have the touch hole drilled all the way and the rifling is okay, the Lorenz was perfect out of box with extremely deep rifling like the originals. Pedersoli is good but you’ll pay for it, you could also get a chiappa/armi sport and send it to get defarbed and to be closer to the originals, I don’t remember the name rn but there’s a guy who makes copies of original barrels and sights that will fit them to repros.

Barrel bands are tapered, go on one direction. The "U" to the muzzle.

Lots of banging around on the table and careless handling for a new rifle. I have an original 1864 and am more carefull with it.
