Perfect combination of plain and ornate I have always beloved that old timers never patched their balls because I’m sure rifles were bought and sold with molds specific to the gun that cast a ball at just the right diameter so the patch and ball shooters were more rare

You get very good accuracy when you have the right ball and patch combo the patch around the ball act's like a gas seal. Patch then ball leads to gasses passing by the ball before it leaves the barrel but at the end of the day its ur riffle you do what you want with it

onthe farm yes sir very good point but the only reason I was loading the lock that way was because I ran out of .430 roundball an had to use 44 caliber roundball instead I think I did point that out in the video but yes you are right about the roundball but in a pinch u can use anything below the designated caliber got a coyote with that lock using 44 caliber roundball at 45 yards I saw a 1 1/2 inch differents in using a 45 caliber roundball I can’t complain lol both with a 80 grain powder yield the The versatility of muzzleloader is awesome thank for the comment bro .

And if I'm not mistaken that rifle uses a 1:48 twist rate so you could use the.445-.45cal lead conical bullets as well and they don't even need a patch and thos pedersoli's have really good accuracy that way also love the video by the way wish there was more people makeing videos on this forgotten weapon

If they make it for your caliber try lead conicals they should be a lot easier to ram home. And look into buying a range rod just so you won’t have that my ram rod broke moment when reloading !

.480 round ball with .005 patch. I have the same rifle and this is really easier to use. No matter what you do, make sure the patch is thick enough to grab the rifling lands and grooves to be accurate. I like your outfit. Where can I find something like that? I'm a bigger guy, so it's hard to find stuff like that.

@@ordinancesgt6716 You might consider a second shooting bag. One for your flintlock, one for your percussion rifle. Makes it easier to keep track of your necessities, and you won't have what you don't need for whichever gun you are currently shooting. Just my two cents.

I personally liked your video. And you are correct. A lot of times , when the time was given many a soldier would gather at the creek , and everyone was looking for bullets . Best place in the world to find small stones. Another thing very few know ,is very ,very ,few people had a gun. #1 gun = a years wages. Most family's used farm tools for weapons. It wasn't like the movies. Usually the oldest boy slept in the barn. Not the house. Farm animals were irreplaceable , even chickens had to be guarded. Dogs were expensive. And expensive to feed. At the time after the civil war , a gun would get you a firing squad. Anyone who had a gun ,had it hid. Soldiers could search your home anytime . Few know that. It wasn't until the 40's till shotguns and 22 l.r. became readily available to the general public. And of coarse after that , we are a democracy .Everybody and their brother was selling guns and laughing all the way to the bank. And it just kept getting bigger. It's also why we have never been invaded . Everybody including grandma has a gun. Don't think China , hasn't brought that little fact into play. I'm seeing a 1000 drooling hillbilly's lol. Peace.

Wow. Virtually everything you wrote is just plain wrong and stupid. EVERYONE on the frontier owned a gun, or more than one. Some Southerners were briefly prohibited from owning firearms. Once the Constitution was ratified soldiers could NOT just search ones home. Where did you get that crap from?

@@Nick-wn1xw History my friend. If you would read Grant's journal . He authored the purchase of camels for the wild wild west .There were more camels than horses . Guns were very ,very, expensive . Family's would sell their children into slavery ""apprenticeships for 7 years. And after that time they got one rifle. People used to burn down chicken houses so they could get every single nail back to reuse. Because a blacksmith charged by nail ,not by the pound. Does this sound like everyone was just rolling in money??? The barter system was the main form of money in those days. Chicken thieves were actually hanged in those days. Why??? If everyone was so rich??? If you actually think there was a rifle to every family you're sadly mistaken my friend . Life was nothing like the movies. You know all those westerns you read as a kid are ""fiction"" . If everyone had a gun in those days I suggest you study up on the ""Alamo"" It wasn't like the movies. Then you'll start to understand Reality. People were dirt poor. Farm tools were also weapons of choice .And the law was whoever had the most weapons. There was no law in those days . Every town made up their laws , and they weren't going off the constitution , or law books. You've been watching too much T.V. I think. Peace.

@@Nick-wn1xw Also just so you know ,homes were searched and no warrant was required because Marshall law was in place , ordered by the President and approved by congress . Carpet baggers were everywhere. And gun ownership was illegal. And dogs were expensive to buy and feed . Food was in short supply. Dogs were very ,very, skinny. It was not like the movies. My grandfather said when he was a boy . He worked 7 days a week from sunup to sundown. till he was 22 and got married . at 30 he got on at N@W railroad. And life changed. Now that's not in the 1800's that was in the 30's in the blue ridge mountains of Va. Poverty was a way of life. My grandfather never owned a gun in his life. There was nothing to hunt in Va. anyways . everything had been killed off long ago. And if you are so enthralled by illegal searches . Talk to people that survived the flood in New Orleans. You'll find out all about what the military and police did to people and that's in our day and times. And nothing happened to hardly any of them. thousands of violations . So what????? They never returned anyones weapons either. No compensation ,nothing. They melted all of them down. you're like most people these days . You're living in a fantasy world . When the shyte hits the fan ,it gets shytty !And the rules aren't followed. And that's reality . Peace.
