Now after 1 year of having seen this video, I return to see this performance again and I realize some details that I omitted the first time I saw it, and now I think this is one of their best performances ever. The selection of songs was meticulously chosen and rehearsed, it shows in songs like "gas and matches" or "When they really get to know you", very tight arrangements. Dave as always, singing with his heart on a string, and delivering falset vocals with great technique. The rhythmic base was very well oiled, the guy did not miss a single beat. But the reason why I think this is one of their best performances is the idea that Dave took over the bass, leaving Eric Walters on guitar. I felt that Eric smoothly merged with the DNA of the PTL songs, but he brought his own personal touch, which took them songs to a whole new level of expression. The dynamics of quiet and loud sound, the dissonant notes that he let resonate all over the room, giving the songs space, and letting the other instruments breathe; and that exquisite selection of effects to highlight certain parts of the songs. The tone of the guitar in general is fabulous. The only thing that I kind of miss was the vocal harmony arrangements that are no longer so present, however this version of Pedro the Lion is undoubtedly one of the best there has been, they sound amazing. Long live Pedro the lion.

I remember hearing the opening notes to The Only Reason I Feel Secure and falling head over heels of Pedro and Bazan. The first band to make me cry because the story told was so beautiful it felt like it was real. Pedro will always be one of my favorite bands period. Bazan is the greatest lyricist of the past few decades.

Dear David, I have been supporting your work (both solo and with PTL) for many years now and your latest record is probably your most balanced and mature. Thanks for this great record, it's exciting and heartfelt. Kudos to the rest of the band as well. It's not easy to make a trio sound so rich but you guys pull it off. Finally, as a drummer, I love what your drummer is doing with such a small drum set. Love the dark tones of the ride/crash (Should be a Sabian from the Big & Ugly series if I am not mistaken). Greetings from an Italian fan!

Hey man, do you speak Italian? I'm from Milan and really like your comment, it's rare to read someone understand so good this (apparently) simple and straight kind of drumming. Would like to get in contact, I'm a drummer too, but currently working on a project as bassist and looking for simple but smart and stilish drummer😉. Let me know.
