I rushed here just now after hearing the sad news. RIP Mr. Reubens. Thank you for all the laughs you gave us. Us 80's kids lost an icon just now. In public school, we always did an impression contest. He really did make an inpact on all of us. Made us laugh on Saturday mornings. Years go by, and you just never forget. Thank you, Paul.....😢

I forgot how awesome (and occasionally creepy) this show was. It did two things that kid's shows rarely do these days: It understood that adults were watching too and tried to make it as enjoyable for them instead of an infantile slog, and much more importantly, _it didn't treat kids like they were idiots._ Pretty much every children's program eventually tells the viewers that it's okay to be different and that it isn't a bad thing, it's just different. _Pee-wee's Playhouse_ never had to say it, because it spent every episode SHOWING it instead.

As a little kid growing up I remember this was one of my favorite shows. The puppets and the themes were everything to me. Kids today don't have it as good as we did back in the day.

I bought this on DVD so my kids could watch it. They love it! I love the mixed media stuff and the stop motion animation and puppetry, I especially love the Penny cartoons and I love the King of Cartoons and the classic animation they show through him. I think this was such a creative and enjoyable show. But it should be watched in the morning, it’s too stimulating to watch when they’re tired 😂

Strangely all of these childhood thoughts regarding this show happened so recently. Almost like the universe was preparing me for today. May he rest in peace. A show very underrated after its run I'm hoping will return as a popular classic for this new generation to enjoy.

Though we might not see new content as good as Pee-Wee's Playhouse, the one good thing kids have today is the ability to pull up shows and content like this endlessly on demand, without commercials. I would've killed for that as a kid, and pocketable? I think kids today have it much better than we ever did in most ways.

Anyone else here after the news of Paul Reubens' passing? Like that's actually really heartbreaking to hear because I know he made a LOT of people's childhoods And even though I didn't grow up in the era of this show, I enjoyed watching him in retrospect, not even just as Pee-Wee. RIP Paul

I actually came here by total coincidence, and didn't discover Mr. Reubens had passed away until just now. I would wish that people can now leave the man alone, now that he's gone,.... but considering some people are STILL trying to find ways to tear down Mr. Rogers 20 years after HIS passing,... I may be wishing for too much. ... its like, nobody is allowed to entertain children without being labelled as some kind of predator. Why is that?

I have the entire series on DVD and have watched it many times over, even having hosted a couple of Pee Wee parties with adult friends. I have never, not even once, skipped this 2 and a half minute masterpiece of an intro. RIP Pee Wee.

Your awesome talent will be missed and treasure forever. It is a sad day indeed but I will always remember the good times I had Saturday mornings and I got the DVDs to treasure forever. He was "railroaded" for a legit reason. Granted, it was way overboard, but Paul Reubens was not innocent. Had Paul kept his Pee Wee in his pants at home, he would not have been discovered. Blame that one piece of crap who saw that he was arrested and blabbed to everyone.

I was just out of college when Pee-wee's Playhouse first aired, and never missed an episode; proving you're never too old to feel like a kid. It's so heartbreaking to now live in a world without Pee-wee Herman / Paul Reubens. But his art lives on, and his friendly personality and unique creativity he left behind will test the times. RIP Pee-wee / Paul Reubens, you will never be forgotten.

My daughter was born in 1986 and I remember on Saturday mornings we would watch this together. I really liked it. It was funny. I will never forget their was a cartoon that was part of the show called “Penny”. A cute little girl with pennies as her eyes. I am sad of his passing. He will be missed.

My father would tell me that when he was younger he would watch peewee's play house. So I followed his tradition and began watching peewees playhouse every morning with a bowl of cereal, I was 12 years old at the time. I got so into peewees play house that I had my alarm as the theme song. I'm 21 now, hearing the news that he passed away breaks my heart. RIP Paul Reubens🙏 you always made my mornings feel awesome.
