This video is to draw awareness but also to ask a question to the number 1 rule while on the slopes 👇🏼
The number 1 rule on the slopes is that the downhill rider or skier has the right of way and the uphill rider or skier must yield to the person downhill.
My question to that rule as it pertains to this video is when does that burden of responsibility shift to the other rider who was overtaken?
As you see in this video the snowboarder on the left of your screen is well upslope of our family. Just after he overtakes little Cashy, he cuts directly across in front of her, falls and almost causes a really bad collision.
Little Cashy did an excellent job of avoiding what could have been really nasty.
However, if she did not, would she have been at fault?
Or is this guy still at fault knowing he wanted to be on the other side of the slope and had plenty of time to make that cut over in a much safer way behind Whitney?
Again. This video is for awareness and hopefully a discussion can help at least one other rider or skier be safer or keep themselves safe from a bad collision.
