In this full-length interview, Peezy sat down with Shawn Prez and talked about the current run-of success that his hometown of Detroit is having in hip-hop. From there, Peezy spoke about having ties to the East and Westside of the city, and the way that his relationship with his father has evolved over the years. Peezy then revealed how he got his rap name, which he said came from his friend, and he spoke about dropping out of school in 11th grade.
Moving along, Peezy explains the difference between living in Westside Detroit and Eastside Detroit. He reveals that four generations of family members all lived in a row of homes on a block together on the crime-ridden Eastside and that many of them either sold drugs or used drugs themselves. He also explains how those experiences played a huge role in his music and artistry. From there, Peezy explains why he broke up from his group, TeamEastSide, and went solo around the same time that other Detroit rappers such as Big Sean and Donny Brown made their presence felt on the national stage. As the discussion continues, he reflects back on getting booked for shows outside of his home state in places like California and Milwaukee. Peezy also looks back on doing shows in Detroit, Michigan, Gaining over a million streams on Spotify, and Making $30k a week.
Later in the interview, Peezy opens up about getting arrested for racketeering and conspiracy in 2016, going to the county jail, getting indicted for gang charges, getting picked up in Detroit by the FBI, the Feds using his music videos against him, and more.
