The paints look nice sorted by colour. I don’t use those kind of paints but if I did, I think I’d want to keep the matt and gloss paints as 2 separate categories (and then sorted by colour within those categories)….. unless you use both matt and gloss on the same projects, in which case I’d leave them as they are.

Looking good! Glad you had a good day off. Usually organize by finish and color, works best for quick finds in the middle of a project

I would peobably sort my paints first by finish/property and then colour within that 🙂 Maybe by brand- finish - colour 🙂 And yes, speciality paints by themselves 😁

I always organize paints and such by color! But with specialty ones separate and organized by color themselves.

I organize my paint by type and then I put each type in rainbow order. It has worked well for me.

I group them by colour and then within each colour group I arrange them according to the finish. So for example orange gloss, orange matte, orange metallic and then I would do blue etc the same way: blue gloss, blue matte, blue metallic. This is how I order my craft paint bottles but I have those twirly bottle racks designed for the 2oz bottles; I use my pegboard for tube paints on hooks. The ones I have trouble with are the 1 oz bottles, I’ve only ever found one solution for those and I didn’t really like the configuration so if anyone reads this and has a solution for 1oz bottles please let me know 😊❤

I've seen 1oz bottle holders for standard pegboards on Etsy as well.

I think I would order the paints by type (matte, glossy) first and then by color. But think about how you use them and then organize that way. By the way, Kona is just the cutest dang dog!!!

I would probably do the same as you and make a pretty paint rainbow, not very practical but it's satisfying to look at, and that's also pretty important 😊

A lot of plastics that yellow from sun exposure need to have some UV ray processes done to them. I can't remember offhand exactly what it is, so the best way to see it in action is videos of old console and toy repairs, like old Gameboys and translucent plastic toys. I'm all for covering it with a pattern you like, especially since you want to keep the surface more clear and open as a work surface instead of a storage surface. With the 3D-printed plastic storage, the extra bits are definitely leftover from the printing process. Support struts get put on and need to be filed down. Honestly the Etsy shop owner should be filing those before shipping them out, but that's just my opinion.

FYI: PLA will break down in sunlight. Since your pegboard is in such a great sunny spot, you may want to coat your paint hangers with a UV sealant or spray paint to keep them from crumbling. (Also, the seller should lower the temp on their printer and clean up their prints before sending them!)

6:45 - I would be in an organizational conundrum, as well, since I’d want to default to ordering them by brand like a store would, which is the most attractive & “logical” method, however, the way we ACCESS it most frequently is the way we should organize our supplies. This would make things look more disorderly/jumbled, but our workflow would ultimately benefit from this functional approach. If we could still make it look tidy & aesthetic, then it’d be the optimal compromise.

I think the issue with the accessories is a wee bit of quality control on the printer IMHO. If it's just PLA filament then yes you can file it down just like you did. Depending on the piece you can sometimes clip off bits like a sprue because it was probably part of the support to print it and those are supposed to snap off. You can even sand it. You can even paint it. 😊(I know you are aiming for white so no need). There's even a spray primer that will fill in the grooves and then sand. Not necessary on these. But I printed out a Tardigrade and he needed a little bodywork. 😂

I think you're right. The rough bits were on the same side on all of them. The shop had exactly what I was looking for but I do wish they hooked in easier. Again, I'm not sure if my pegboards are slightly thicker. Next Ikea trip I will see if they're different now.

I’ve used stick on wood grain for my ikea kallax bed and it works great and looks real. If you’re folding pieces over a 90 degree angle and the overhang is really small like 1/2” or less, you may need to secure it with some extra glue. I just left those pieces to stick out in the back though and I never see it so it doesn’t bother me. It’s really sturdy too I haven’t scratched it even though it’s been through a LOT when I was applying it lol

Im curious to see if you like the paint up on the pegboard long term. As for organizing, gloss on one side, matt on the other, arranged by rainbow... until chaos happens and they end up on the wall in whatever order

Looked a bit like it could have been some support material still stuck to the 3d prints at least on the end of the hooks. Usually easy to remove with small side cutters (similar to what used to cut legs of electrical components or scale model buildings). But yes sanding it down is fine choice especially since it is simpler to go slow. I usually sort them by colour but also by attributes as if it's a primer, an effect or a finish.

Part of customer service in selling is making sure items look good. They should have filed these before they were shipped. It’s embarrassing to send something so unfinished even for being 3D printed.

Since you have all of that roll vinyl, have you considered making some sort of vinyl design for the shelf? Or just using some vinyl to cover the edges that are discolored?

I would sort by color and then keep specialty ones separate like metallics. I don’t think I even own any gloss. As far as the top of your kallax unit. I would just go to Lowe’s and get a big chunk of wood cut to fit and stain it, and seal it, or, if you can’t find a piece the correct width, just get multiple boards and put them on top. I think it would look good but the stick on stuff would be fine too.
