This movie and song so makes me miss my grandparents.. my grandparents had a beautiful farm in the country and I loved spending time with them and all their animals. It makes you wish so much for one more visit or conversation with them. I do feel they watch down over me and that gives me some comfort.

Stunning dialogue between the high-register strings and the alto flute. Beautiful in a way that only John Barry could achieve

I have loved this movie and it’s soundtrack since seeing it in the late 1980’s. The score is so sweet and hauntingly beautiful. So many universal themes of innocence, regret, missed opportunities, destiny and true love. It is quite profound without pretense. The cinematography, sets and costumes are superb! It is a time travel vessel in its own way. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to go back in time and revisit some old places and relationships- especially with grandparents! It would also be cool to re-evaluate the choices made at a more tender and innocent age.

John Barry, after losing both his parents within a year, wrote the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack for the cult classic film, starring Seymour and Reeve, "Somewhere In Time." He also did it for little money, at Jane Seymour's request, due to a low budget. He probably drew upon that time in '79-'80, to create this hauntingly beautiful score.

I'm a man who's in his 40's, my grandparents died 20 years ago. This soundtrack means a lot to me, I wished I could meet my nan again. I used to spend weekends at her flat when I was 16, we used to talk about lots of different things, I miss her a lot. I'm afraid it has the same effect on "growing old". I mean I'm in my 40's, and I don't want to see the same decline in my own parents as I saw with my nan. I love my dad to pieces, but he is having health problems right now. Why is life so cruel? :( I love this music however.

I know some people are doubtful of an existence after this life. I have no doubt that there is life beyond the grave. I also have no doubt that the same family relationships will exist and be better than they were here. It will be a family reunion that will be unlike any other. (Knowing MY family, there will probably still be Kentucky Fried Chicken there...😄)

I agree with you! Can you imagine what an amazing reunion it will be? No more pain, no negativity, just love and happiness and finally being able to see the Lord and all our family and friends we’ve missed for decades plus. This song makes me miss my mama and my childhood memories so much. It’s raining today in NC and that just adds to it...why do I do this to myself? lol It’s a mix between melancholy, nostalgia and warm memories.

@@sallybrown4947 Apparently, you haven't heard much of the music of 1976 King Kong. If you listen to Barry's movie themes , you'll notice some significant similarities. (Out of Africa, Somewhere in Time, The Deep, King Kong (1976), Peggy Sue got Married, The Gathering (1977), and several others). No drugs needed.
