WOW. I thought I was the only one to use Solder as a Current carrying conductor.. And leave it on the Spool too. I think My Mom's Father invented the 1st Dash Cam, In the late 60's He had a Reg 8mm movie Camera on a Tripod anchored to the Tranny Hump. On their Trips out West From the milwaukee area He recorded several parts of the Trips. I need to find those Movies... Thanks Dave...

My father in-law did that in the 50s. Look up the films "Burried treasures" on my channel to see his old road trip films. A blast from the past.

Can this unit be wired in somehow so you do not need a lighter plug in connection. It seems to have exceptional picture quality.

The 12 volt plug has a voltage converter in it as the camera operates at 5 volts and because it uses that special cable that splits off for the rear camera I would say no.

According to the Amazon description it can be hard wired using an optional connection kit.
