Anyone else get emotional when they realized Peng got a 10, and then they won? It was one of the most emotional, genuine reactions I've seen from the NCAA title winner in years. Not to say the other teams were not genuine in years past, but its refreshing when the expected team doesn't win. UCLA rocked it and fought super hard on bars and beam!

The winner's are based on this one night of performances. It is not an average of all their performances the whole season. If it bothers you the winner were crowned based on who hits in Super Six(as it has always been), then maybe do not watch the Championships, espeically if you're going to become upset when your favorites don't win because another team had a better night.

@cauchamar So your amateur expertise is more objectively correct than 24 highly qualified nationally-ranked judges? Please do inform us with your so-called expert opinion where there was any mistake (according to the NCAA execution tables) that merits this routine to be seen as biased judging??????

Yes! I was there and it took a while for it to sink in that they had actually won and once it did I started to cry. I was such a mess and the fans of the other teams couldn't have been nicer.

I fucking love that this was her very last professional routine. She has been one of my absolute favorites, and it was amazing watching her grow through the years.

What a great moment in sports. Peng and Kyla had already gotten 10’s on the bars. It was one of the few times that Katelyn didn’t get a 10 on floor, but if memory serves, she still got a 9.975. And yet, Oklahoma had done so well that UCLA needed Peng to get at least that same score on beam also, which is pretty rare. She killed it. I love the realization coming across their faces as the first 10 is posted, and then the next… Even coach Val said she didn’t realize it until the winner was announced, because she’s bad at math. 😄

This is still such an unbelievable moment. Halfway through, UCLA was out of this meet. They roared back with phenomenal gymnastics, none moreso than Peng. After all her injuries and struggles, to deliver two perfect routines when they needed perfection, it's unreal. NCAAs keep delivering unforgettable moments. This, along with 2023 Trinity drilling her vault on an injured leg to tie the all-time 10 record, are two for the ages.

Peng Peng did amazing! I think this might’ve been one of their last competitions (seniors) that could be why they were so emotional. I’m so proud of them! And I’m gonna miss the seniors! 💕💫

One question, how did they know that UCLA had already won, when it looks like Florida still had a score that came in afterwards? Was Florida completely out of the running even before their final score was posted?
@cageynerd
2 жыл бұрын
The drop score -- FL drop score was close to the 5th score, whereas someone fell on beam for UCLA so their drop score was a lot lower.

ANTIQUEFOTOS if it’s the same person we’re thinking of, it’s melisa metcalf, she started as a gymnast for the team but took over a coaching/managing type role. she left the same year as peng. hope this helps 😊

That's Mellissa metcalf, she was on the team but ending up having to medicpy retire due to injury, so she stepped unto a manager type role. she graduated in 2018
