Oswald is still influential as he leads all the Falcone drug operations and formed allies during his time at the Iceberg Lounge. The surviving Falcone lieutenants would likely not want Sofia so they may side with Oz. Sofia killed her family yes but she made Oswald’s coup a lot easier. Sofia spent ten years in Arkham while Oswald spent ten years forming connections. Oswald is not a nobody as many higher up criminals know him and have a history with him.

I thought Oz was gonna spend the whole series putting out fires that could out him as Alberto’s killer, but Sofia clocked it right away. Then somehow Oz still wins her over and then I think the rest of the show is gonna be them climbing the ladder together until it blows up in the end. The yellow wallpaper peeling away in the asylum made me think of "The Yellow Wall-Paper" by Charlotte Gilman, which is about a woman who's been locked away for "hysteria" only to go actually mad. Sophia's yellow dress at the end may further mirror the protagonist's fate at the end of the story. You can't have a proper Arkham Asylum episode without a reference to classic gothic literature.

There’s a conversation that Sophia has with Rush after her shower at his place (present day) where she references all of the doctors she went through during her stay at Arkham beginning with “Ventriss, and another, and another” so either he was killed, died naturally, or quit altogether. I hope she got to “get rid of him for good”, after his psychological recommendation kept her from having a fair trial & lead to 10 years being taken from her.

Summer Gleeson from Batman: The Animated Series. It's about breaking Sofia Falcone going to the extreme. It's about trying to make her guilty and she knows she is not guilty. Prison hardened her and once she got out of prison and stepped into Gotham City she realizes Gotham City is the prison and she is the warden. The Club 44 story from The Batman plays out so well in the flashback and what was really going on under Carmine Falcone and you got Kinsey from The Batman arresting Sofia Falcone in this flashback episode. The continuity again is so well done.

Mark Strong was a better choice to play Falcone in those scenes. The hanging mother scene is about 25 years before the events of The Batman. Definitely the best episode yet. By the 14 minute mark, I had a feeling she was going to get framed by her father and it happened. Once I saw the police while she was talking to Oz, I knew she was screwed. Sofia was innocent all along. Less blood on her hands than Oz. It’s similar to The Count of Monte Cristo where Dante gets framed for no reason and then a little bit of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in trying to make her go crazy in an asylum when she isn’t. I initially thought Magpie was Harley. I’m glad she got her payback against all her relatives who betrayed her. She wasted 10 years of life for nothing. Mark Strong did a good job but his Carmine Falcone felt a little too quiet and reserved compared to John Turturro’s version. Great ending song: “Strange Little Girl” by The Stranglers. Good show! Way better than Agatha All Along which I gave up on after Ep. 3. Cristin in that hot dress showing plenty of cleavage. She and Colin are the best parts to this show. 9/10 👍🏻

Also so cool how the sun is rising literally behind her as she's talking to Viti and metaphorically it's rising on a new day in the Falcone Crime Family.

I’m now really upset carmine Falcone is dead and we didn’t get a full movie + series with Mark Strong as him.

To me this episode felt like a horror show... Imagine being put through all that and nobody but one person wants to help you and his hands are "tied". Best episode so far.

Wouldn’t be the first time. They constantly have him be sympathetic and charming, and the next moment he does something horrific or treacherous to remind you he’s not the good guy.

Can’t believe you didn’t mention her yellow dress. Before this she was hiding her scars and burns. Now she’s wearing a beautiful revealing dress that shows off her scars and burns. Literally coming out of her shell and showing everyone the new Sofia they themselves created. Which ultimately led to their deaths.

This Penguin show is fascinating, and I can see parallels between Victor and Issaz, but I imagine Sofia transforming into a reimagined Poison Ivy. Her evolution is hinted at through her increasingly bold and seductive wardrobe choices, incorporating green hues. The greenhouse, mass poisoning, and her involvement with the fungi and the Bliss drug all point to a deeper connection with nature and toxins, elements central to Poison Ivy. Adding in Mr. Bloom and other plant-related Batman villains could further develop this theme, creating a more complex narrative around Sofia's character.
