Um...Brooke won the bet and didn't even know it. Her card was not on the big card under the silk. Fool-ish.

Very clever there with the cuts. I used to play with some tangrams as a kid and that sort of thing always amazed me. You turn one shape face-down and _blam_, everything is wrong and nothing fits.

Yeah, it felt rather cheap. "I have a deck of 52 queen-of-club cards here, choose any one you like" is pretty much the easiest force in the world... With Penn&Teller, they could at least have done a classic "check that all cards are different"... before doing a deck switch, but they didn't even bother with that.

After watching so many card tricks I know that not showing all the cards are different is fishy, and it amazes me that Penn and Teller did something like that, they must know this trick will not fool everyone.

I think that's the beauty of it. They have a show where different magicians from around the world show their best tricks and techniques, and they use one of the simplest tricks ever in a way that is still a very impressive effect (if you don't know how simple it is) :D
@1GrilledFoot

The Queen of Clubs isn't the main part of the trick, it's the other part of it where they turn over the shapes and there's the card-shaped gap that wasn't there at first.
@pascalcallemien2498

@@1GrilledFoot, yes, but that part was not really surprising either when noticing the perfect slices in the paper, it was immediately obvious what would happen next: an optical illusion no magician would ever fool them with. In comparison with other tricks they did at the end of every episode, this one was just lacking a big wow-factor, but they did present it as a bar-bet.

The second part of the trick is more interesting. They clearly change up the axis of symmetry upon flipping the pieces (not placing them were they should be). What I don't get is how the total area of the pieces is changed from 56 cards to 55.
@jamesreed5678
2 ай бұрын
The pattern they were cut in allows it too look like all the pieces fit together, but when moved around (and flipped over), an empty space appears. In actuality, the pieces didn't fit well together until they were moved.

It's common in TV shows like this for the judges to wear the same clothes for an entire season. It allows the editors more freedom to cut in different bits if they need too. They can cut Brooke saying something from a completely different act, but make it look natural. Penn & Teller also are wearing the same suit and tie the whole time. Likewise if you watch Battlebots, all the judges, hosts, and Faruq wear the same outfits for the entire filming season.
